Manning and Woods ltd

Manning and Woods Ltd. is a new company, by the merger of Mannings Ltd. and Simon Woods Property Maintenance.

Mannings Ltd. was formed in 2000 by another merger, of family companies MV Manning Ltd. and Manning & Ager Ltd. These companies had been building houses and doing specialist property maintenance, most notably artexing and decorating, in the Stowmarket area since the 1960’s. When Messrs. Manning and Ager senior retired, Mannings Ltd. was formed by their sons Karl Manning and Gary Ager, to continue the family business. Both Karl and Gary were apprenticed by their fathers when leaving school, and therefore have a wealth of experience between them.

Simon Woods Property Maintenance was formed in 2008. Simon has also worked in the construction industry since leaving school, having apprenticed to a boatbuilder in Lowestoft before joining his own father’s building firm, and then working for a number of the country’s leading house builders, before deciding to set up his own business.

Claire Woods worked in the insurance industry for 20 years before joining Simon in his new business venture. Claire now works alongside Lindsey Richmond to run the Manning & Woods office.

The team is completed by Andrew Bass, who has worked for Mannings since leaving school. Rumour has it he saw Mr Manning Senior working in one of the classrooms at his school when he was aged just 14, and asked him for a job there and then!

We are fortunate to supplement our team with a number of wonderful sub-contractors, who share our work ethics, pride in the job and high standards. Dan and Mike the plasterers, Jim and David the plumbers (who are also heating engineers), Scott the sparky, Dave the bricky, and Chris the tiler to name but a few. We also have well-trusted contacts for patios and driveways, gardening, fencing, scaffolding, skip hire, roofing, pargetting, pest control, drain clearance and practically everything else you can think of.
