Report

Seds hosted Old Guildfordians today, the only side who have managed to beat Seds in the league this season. Seds knew that a victory today by 2 or more goals would put us top of the league. There were a few changes from the previous game, with Tim Boyce making his debut at right back and captain marvel Craig re-instated back into the line up.

The first half began and Seds for once played good football from the off instead of taking 10 minutes to get going. Seds pressured from the get go, with Ben, Joe and Tom all working their socks off in the attacking 3 pressurising their defence and causing them havoc. Seds wasted a multiple of chances in the first 25 minutes, the game could of been all over if we had finished them. Eventually we did take the lead as a Delapesque throw in from Boyce which was flicked on by Wicksy, and the Guildford defender, under pressure from Joe decided to smash the ball home for 1-0. Wicksy protested after the game that it should be his goal, but a team vote decided it was only an assist. O and i almost forgot, next week Boyce you've got a lesson in how to take a throw in, so make sure your free!!

Seds made it 2-0 with some great football, which started with a neat pass from James to Ben, who laid it inside it to Henry, who passed to Joe, and with his little toe flicked it on to Ben who beautifully smashed the ball into the far corner of the net with a left foot beauty!

Half time couldn't come quicker for Guildfordians, who could of easily have been 6-0 down. Seds went in happy after a good first half performance.

Second half started and Old Guildfordians came out strong and put us under pressure for the first 15 minutes, which was handled well by Seds. Seds managed to break a counter attack and Joe realised Ben who drilled the ball inside the keepers near post to make it 3-0 Seds.

Guildford did manage to pull one back from a corner, which fell to the free man at the back post, who evaded 3 challenges, played a one two with a team mate before drilling the ball accross the goal for the striker to tap in for 3-1.

The game slowed down and Seds regained control, with Wicksy, James and Henry dominating the midfield, and whenever Guildford tried to break away, Martin, Murray, Craig and Boyce had everything under control. Warren had another quite game, but did pull off a good save low to his left corner from a long range shot by their striker. Seds made a sub, taking off Tom for Joe Elisak, who was also making his debut. He ran down the defence, causing them to make errors and also could of made it 4-1 but couldn't take his chance. With a few minutes remaining, Boyce made a surging run from the back before playing Henry in, who showed the defender his tekkers, twice, before slamming the ball home to make it 4-1. Murray was screaming at Henry to just shoot, but forgave him once the ball rippled in the net.

The full time whistle went and Seds were delighted with the performance. A great performance from everyone, but the lads voted Joe Holl as man of the match, his tireless and hard working performance won him the votes from the lads. No game this week, next week a trip to Shene Old Grammarians.
