Season Review

The team has developed solidly throughout the season, they have continued to play football ‘the right way’, they have not moaned at the referee, faked injury, cheated or ever been sore losers.

They have played good passing football, coupled with the great football techniques of dribbling and shooting and being comfortable on the ball. As a team, they have not relied on strength to win games, or the ‘big boot’, which will be a benefit to them in the seasons to come. They have shown the great potential they have as a team.

A very successful season has seen us lose to only three other sides, (Sale United, the champions, Wythenshawe Town, the runners up and Wilmslow Sports). Each time we did lose it was by the very narrowest of margins, in fact we never lost by more than a two goal marginal all season. Our ‘goals against’ record was 21, the second best record in the division. This was achieved by the strong discipline of our keeper and defenders, and an excellent work ethic, as the whole team were prepared to defend as well as attack.

The determination and passion the team has played with throughout the year has made all the parents, family and fans of the team very proud. The lads have never given up, no matter what is happening on the pitch and have always been ‘good winners’, never wishing to make the opposition feel bad about losing.

All the players in the team have shown their adaptability, playing in a number of positions as they progress their football education. Understanding what it is like to play in different areas of the pitch and appreciating what other members of the team have to do.

They are a very friendly, nice bunch of lads who have shown their intelligence by the way they act and play the game. They are also very quiet, too quiet!! And need to shout for the ball occasionally!!

The boys have played their football with a smile on their face; they have demonstrated a great team spirit and are a great bunch of lads. If they carry on in this way, they will get great enjoyment out of playing the game, and that is all we can ever ask for.
