Team Selection Policy |
| Date: 20/09/06 |
This season we find ourselves in the very fortunate
situation of being able to select a team from a very
large squad of players. Now, whilst this is great
news for your management staff and the club as a
whole, it may not be ideal for those players who
expect to play week in week out - The bottom line is,
it's very unlikely!
However, whilst we (the management team) appreciate
that we may face a few selection problems in the
future, we still want each player to feel like they
are treated fairly.
Primarily we want the club to be as successful as
possible, but we also want it to be fun and fair for
everyone involved. Because of this we have decided to
put in place a selection policy that we think will
ensure each player plays a major role in the squads
future.
Selection Policy
Sunday/Monday - I will issue fixture details and will
request your availability for the weekend. You have
until THURSDAY 11AM to reply with confirmation.
If you DO NOT reply by the deadline set - we will take
it you are not available for selection
Thursday afternoon - I will issue the team sheet for
the Saturday Fixture.
Team Sheet info
Both League and Cup games state that we can only use 3
subs maximum throughout the game. Because of this we
have decided that it would only be fair to pick 14
players to be involved. Any more than that, players
risk travelling to games and not playing - which would
be extremely frustrating. N.B - Un-selected Players
are still welcome to travel if they want to. i.e
injured players/players who have excepted the squad
rotation system but still want to travel and support
the team.
Team Selection process
Three people will be involved in the team selection
process. Myself (as Manager), Tony Powell (Assistant
Manager) and Charlie Lloyd (Captain). Throughout the
week we will be locked in talks to decide which 14
player will be playing that week.
Our criteria for selection will be based on the
following
1. Player availability
2. The Opposition
3. Player Form
4. Player appearances
5. Player commitment and loyalty
6. Players commitment to training each week
7. Player accounts - i.e do they owe subs? do they
pay on time?
Once the team is selected. I will issues the team
sheet to everyone via email Thursday afternoon.
Club Player Pool
Those players who have not been selected to play that
week, we will not dump you out in the cold. Instead
you will be placed into a CLUB PLAYER POOL. This list
of players will act as stand-by to ALL THREE TEAMS at
the club.
1st priority will be given to the 3rd team - e.g if we
have any cry off's on Friday evening, you will be
asked to play for the 3rd's
If the 3rd's are fine, then you may be called up to
the 1st or 2nd team.
Cry Off's
All players, whether you are selected to play or are
in the players pool, must contact me by FRIDAY EARLY
EVENING if you have to cry off the game. I will then
have enough time to call-up a replacement. Failure to
report cry off's will affect your selection for future
games.
Finally...
If you think this is unfair or if you have a better
way to help pick the side, then please let us know.
We will be glad of the assistance.
