Panama City FC was founded in May 1996 by a group of friends including former Chairman Paul Taylor and former Manager Warren Tozer.
In the summer of 96 twenty lads arrived for pre-season taining and all mostly strangers to one another. Regardless of the vast age range between the players the inevitable banter soon began and it was five years before that team completely broke up and new players were drafted in.
The Chelmsford based team originally played its home matches in Pleshey before moving to Melbourne Park in our second season. By our sixth year we had moved on to our current home at Marconi Athletic Club.
Since our formation Panama has enjoyed playing its football in the Chelmsford and District Sunday Social League, which was also formed in May 96. Only ourselves and Wickham Royals remain from the original twelve teams that formed the league.
The quality of the league has improved immensely since its inception and now boasts three divisions.
Regardless of some lucky escapes over the years Panama still proudly ply their trade in the Premiership. Though we have yet to sample the sweet taste of success neither have we tasted the bitterness of relegation.
This season (05/06) after a rocky start we have begun to bounce back with some excellent displays and points on the board. we are also progressing well in the League Plate with a real chance of some silverware this season.
Good Luck Panama
