Notice Board

* NOTHING CHANGES IN MATCH DAY VOTE *
01 Apr 2012

Albeit the game never took place on Saturday 31/03/2012 we still had the opportunity to collect the important votes of everyone at the game.

It went with an overwhelming 66% to 34% to change to Clay Cross Town FC. The issue will be raised at the meeting next Thursday and notification of the decision will be announced on  this site that evening.

PYCHIC GROUNDHOPPER STATES ON HIS BLOG THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE CLAY CROSS TOWN *
30 Mar 2012

Laurence the groundhopper wrote in his blog about the Glapwell game that we were changing our name and he should have purchased a Parkhouse FC badge.

So his crystal ball is well in front of our club because nothing is decided and we will be the first to announce any or no change on this site on 5 April after the committee meeting.

* CLAY CROSS TOWN THE PRO'S AND CONS *
02 Mar 2012

Why should we consider changing our name to Clay Cross Town FC? let's look at some facts.

The name Clay Cross Town was not used until 1909 when the two most powerful teams in Clay Cross agreed to merge into one  town club. Those teams were Clay Cross Zingari and Clay Cross Works. The latter run and finaced by the Jackson family - wealthy by local standards and very influencial throughout the area. The amalgamation was to achieve their obsession with football supremacy and they commenced their season on 4 September 1909 in the Notts & Derby League against Derby County Reserves. Well over a thousand spectators assembled on Sharley Park to witness the game. The game ended 1-1 with the Town coming back from 1-0 down.
Their season ended with the trophy that had eluded the former two clubs - The Derbyshire Senior Cup.

The final was played on 6 May 1910 (is that an omen for our league cup final this season) and that was the day that King Edward had died. After a massive tussle with New Tupton Ivanhoe the Town finally won 2-1. Only one year after that success though the Town went defunct and their debts were settled by selling all the balls, nets and goalposts. £12 was still outstanding but the supporters organised a whist drive and the debt was cleared.
Forward now to 1919/20 when the club re-emerged with two teams and the first eleven finished a credible third in the Derbyshire Senior League. By 1923 the Town had finished sixth in that same league and with that they disbanded never to be seen again.
S0 2012/13 would be the ninetieth anniversary of that clubs demise - do we want to recreate the Town team next season or........

Do we stay as we are? Parkouse FC or Parkhouse Colliery FC were first formed in 1943 amid the war years and they started off in proper league football in the 1944/45 season when they formed two very good teams. The first eleven played in the Graham League and the reserves in the Scarsdale League. The honours came flooding in and one of the star players was Gerald McGee (the grandad of Lee and Wayne Watson). The Parkhouse teams continued to be successful until the early fifties and produced a clutch of professional footballers along the way.

We named our club in 1989 as a tribute to the Parkhouse name but do we now need to promote our town throughout the surrounding counties with a reognised town name or continue in the title that we've strived to promote for the last 22 years?

Show your feelings by voting on our club poll.

* PLANS FOR NEXT SEASON ALREADY ON THE GO *
20 Mar 2012

Yes before this season is barely reaching the final stages we've been busy looking ahead to next season.
We've learned that waiting for things to happen is not always the best way forward and so we've been proactive rather than reactive this time around.
Here are some of the projects that we're moving rather quickly.
Pre-Season Friendlies
Letters have been sent out, e-mails exchanged and telephones have been hot to try and bring to Mill Lane a nice variety of clubs who will be a test on the field but will also attract the interest of the football supporter.
The Name Change
If the vote does go to change our name then it will be no good rushing frantically to get the change in place so hours of work behind the scenes have already created a new club badge and the new story of our evolution and transition. If the result is to stay in our current status then they will be destroyed and never brought to light again. If it is passed the the new badge will be launched on the night of 5 April 2012 (although supporters at the next home game may get a sneak preview in our programme).
The Clay Cross 500 Draw
Plans are being drawn up for our exciting new cash draw that will pay out anything up to £500 per month. This cash raising opportunity has been on the cards for a couple of years now but should get aired this summer when the teething problems have been ironed out and the committee have considered it and hopefully passed it. Dont panic! It's not replacing the Tote Draw that Ron Lunn so successfully keeps going but will be in addition to and partially replace part of the '3' Ball Draw. If you fancy being a cash rewarded agent - watch this space!
The Floodlights
Lighting up Mill Lane has always been the dream of many and the nightmare of a few. But now our agent has submitted our second application and he will control all the proceedings from there on. No more quivering in uncertainty and lacking the knowledge to submit such a complex assignment - and we've always had the hinderance of not having an 'In House' expert in that and many other fields.
Advertising and Patrons
This will change dramatically thanks to a bit of genius from new member, Martin Roberts who hit on the idea of affordable advertising and a few other gems of ideas that will be a mouth watering prospect for our prospective patrons.
Fund Raising
By using our resources more effectively we should be able to pull in the finances by simply using our ground more effectively and realistically with regard to rental charges. These are all main issues that will be taken to the table on our 5 April committee meeting and this could realistically be the most important one since July 1989.

THE LIST OF LEGENDS NOW REACHES TWENTY - TEN TO GO ON THE INITIAL LIST
01 Jan 2012

The process of compiling a list of players that have made their mark on our club over the last 22 years is a daunting one. However it is hoped that a 'Top 30' can be listed and their profile extended over the coming weeks. Also archive photographs need to be copied and added to the site.  The list to date can be found by pressing the 'More' button on the menu bar below the running headlines. There are legends who have already made their mark on the club like Matt Shaw but at only 22 years old his time will come. Scott Butterworth is knocking on the door too and he may well make the original top thirty. Ryan Skidmore - could he be added to the list of goalkeepers?  I think he will and so may Ryan Williams. Darren Green, Ian Bradley and more are in the running. Keep watching for amendments to that section and see if you agree that the players are worthy of their place.
