Report

Some days you just have to accept that the luck just isnt with you and this was certainly one of these days. If this game was played out the same again 99 times we would have comfortably won all of them.
The game started brightly with both teams playing good football but after 10mins Parklands started to take control with Ant taking a good chance to chip the keeper sending us 1 goal to the good. With the wind now in our sails we pushed on for the second and after a good cross from the right Denis headed back across goal only for Kieran to rise above the Towester defenders to head in our second.
We were playing well all over the park with Kyle and Tom dealing with the ball over the top for their fast striker to run onto and Joe coming out fast to clear his lines, with Nath and Denis out on the flanks dealing with with their wingers and also giving us a great threat going forward. The midfield of Josh and Ash were just about edging the great battle in middle playing some great balls out to Ant and Lewis on the wings. Up front Kieran was working his socks off chasing everything and causing real problems for the Towester defence along with George who always looked dangerous.
Just before half time with George twisting and turning in the box a defender through his leg into a tackle and missed the ball leaving George on the floor and the ref no alternative but to give a penalty. Up stepped our 100% penalty taker Lewis who went for the inside of the left post but unfortunately pulled it to far wide.
2-0 half time
The second half started much the same with Parklands looking comfortable with Joe not having a save to make in the first 45 minutes. This is when lady luck then decided to kick us in the teeth. When a soft shot from 35 yards headed towards Joe our unbeatable keeper all season, he had time to check his hair and polish his boots before simply picking it up but unfortunately with the lack of action in his part of the pitch he had decided to have a nap only to be woken by the ball trickling past him. After a short sprint to try to catch the ball he and the ball seem to go in slow motion into the back of the net. Never mind these things happen but even worse Joe hurt his shoulder trying to stop the ball and needed treatment. Still no need to panic Nath can go in goal for a few minutes till Joe was ready to come back on. From the kick off the ball was sent forward only to be shot back down our end and for the Towester player to have another weak shot from 35 yards. Down to one knee went Nath our super stand in keeper all ready to pick the shot up only for him to watch the ball go through his legs and into the net. What we had done to deserve this God only knows we must have ran over 10 black cats on the way to the game. Still not to panic what else can go wrong, dont speak to soon as Anthony signals his pulled his hamstring again and needs to come off. This means we have Mitch, Joe & Ant all now injured on the side of the pitch and are down to 10 men.
Following all these problems we have now lost a little bit of shape which is understandable and Towester are starting to push us back a bit and with agood run and cross they scored their 3rd and 1st goal we had not gifted them. We then managed to get 11 men back on the pitch and decided to go for it pushing Towester back and had them pinned in for the last 10 minutes. With the ball bouncing around there box with only a few minutes left Jordon hit a shot towards goal with the goal keeper beaton the ball of course hits the post and bounces safe. Another couple of goal mouth scrambles when the ball could have gone anywhere the final whistle blew with the game lost
Boys all we can say is come back next week with this fighting spirit against Falcons in the cup and we must deserve a win and hopefully a little bit of luck.
Joe dont feel to bad all keepers have there oops moments and you have saved us so many times this year we can let you off for that one.
Well done Nath for going in goal at least you had ago, not had the best of birthday weekends for the new teenager but keep your chin up.
Hopefully lady luck will now start to smile on us.
