Lads,

Pre-season is upon us and has started with a good turnout at Fog Lane Park on Tuesday night despite the JULY rain! It was a great start to the 7 week build up to the start of the 2008/09 season (see website for details of pre season friendlies) and we hope to see even more faces down next Tuesday starting 7.15pm. Don’t forget circuits also start again on Thursdays from this week - 7.30pm at Brookway.

For those of you unable to make the AGM I have noted a few of the key highlights and for those of you who were there have been a few developments since. As we don’t have all the emails for players please can you forward this email on so everyone hears about the new developments at the club.

1st team is moving...
The first team will have a new ground for the start of the season - Rushford Park (off Kingsway). The new ground has changing facilities next to the pitch and is roped off which as well as being an improvement on Parrswood School fulfils the criteria required for applying to join the Manchester Amateur League in 2009/10 season. Reserves to stay at Parrswood for this season while we trial the new ground over the winter.

The club is expanding - New Under 18s team...
We are delighted to have attracted a new Under 18s team who have joined the club from this season. They will be joining in circuit training sessions on a Thursday and we hope that one or two of the team may also get involved with the Reserve team squad during the season. This also gives some of the lads who are doing their coaching badges an opportunity to help develop the future Parrswood senior players.

1st team to remain in 1st division...
Since the AGM the league has decided not to relegate the first team to Division 2 but to keep us in Division 1 as a number of new teams have joined the league. After this reprieve this is our opportunity to prove that we deserve to be in this division or even push for promotion to the top division. Roll on the new season

Committee changes...
Neil Butler has had to step down as Club Secretary due to work commitments. The committee and players thanked him for his all his work over the last couple of years. I am delighted to announce that Jimmy Clarke has agreed to take over his role.

Fees...
The fees for the 2008/9 season remain unchanged at £4.00 for both Training & matchdays.(£3.00 for pre-season at Fog Lane Park) and £20 signing on fee. But see below for details of further discounts offered if paying by Standing Order.

New Club training tops ...
At the AGM the committee and players agreed that we would introduce a new payment scheme and incentive for players who pay by direct debit this season. The club worked out that the average player will have paid out around £300 for signing on fees, match fees and training/ circuit training last season. For the new season players will be able to pay £20 a month by Standing Order from July to June 2009 (12 x £20 = £240) which will cover the signing on fee, match fees and Tuesday training and as an extra benefit they will also get a Club training top in the package on the basis that we get a minimum of 15 lads who sign up. If you want to take advantage of the discounts then contact Steve Taylor who will give you the details you need to set up the Standing Order. I would encourage you all to do this as not only does it save you money, but we get some club merchandise into the bargain and importantly for Steve and Paul it reduces the mundane administration of collecting monies on match days and at training.

As you can see there have been a number of developments over the last few months to help move the club forward and I look forward to seeing you all at the training sessions over the next few weeks as we prepare to be fitter and better prepared than we have ever been for an assault on the Division 1 & Division C league titles in the Lancs & Cheshire league and the Timperley & District U18s league title.

Best wishes

Andy Slim
Club Chairman Parrswood Celtic AFC
