Ballinrobe Town 2-2 Partry Athletic (3-1 on Penalties)

John Farragher Michael Lally

Partry came into this game against Super league team Ballinrobe as underdogs and on a bad day for footbal with bitterly cold and strong winds went into half time 2-0 up with a real poachers goal from John Farragher and a tap in from Michael Lally after a brilliant Ruarigh Gibbons free kick from 30 yards came back off the cross bar. Two first half injuries to Cathal Flannelly and John Farragher which forced their withdrawal at half time meant that Partry had to do a major reshuffle and the momentum was lost. Ballinrobe came back into the game with a fortuitous penalty and then equalised after a mistake late on in the Partry defence. Extra time produced no more goals but Partry were unlucky not to win with a couple of good chances. Then came the dreaded penalty shootout and Ballinrobe emerged as the victors. Partry can be proud of their efforts and on the day they more than matched a team two divisions above them.

Partry Athletic 1-0 Castlebar Celtic B

Ciaran Horan

Partry faced one of the favourites for the Premier Division title in this friendly and were unlucky to only win by the single goal. Partry started brightly and had a number of good chances most notably from mark gibbons, John Byrne and Jaime Wall but found the Celtic keeper in inspired form. Near the end of the first half Partry forced yet another corner but Celtic cleared and broke away fast. Adrian Farragher and Gary Sullivan were left two on two and a good ball in from the Celtic left found the centre forward. As sean og Bourke in the Partry goal went full length at the attackers feet he seemed to fall over Sean og's hand than be tripped but the Referee blew for a penalty. Despite the penalty takers many shimmy's as he approached the ball he didn't fool Sean og and he dived to his right to smother the ball. That effort was Celtic's best chance of the game and the second half continued in the same vein with Partry having the majority of chances. With about 15 minutes to go Partry made the breakthrough. Ruari Conroy laid a brilliant ball through that left Ciaran Horan one on one with the Celtic keeper an Ciaran was coolness personified as he finished low to the keepers right. A very good result from a confident Partry team.

Partry Athletic 0-3 Westport United A

Partry started the game with most people thinking they had no chance of getting anything out of the game but by the end of the match Westport knew they had been in a game. Partry started brightly although they were playing into a massive wind and were unlucky not to go ahead with just 10 minutes gone when Michael Lally was put through on goal but he placed his shot just wide. As the first half wore on Westport began taking advantage of the strong wind and Partry were finding it harder and harder to get out of their half. Westport took a lead when a lovely flowing move was finished powerfully to the net. As the second half wore on Westport grabed a second when a ball over the top took out the Partry defence and as Donal Bourke attempted to cover he made the slightest of contacts with the Westport forward who went down and the penalty was given and put away to give Westport a 2-0 lead at half time. The second half started with Partry having the wind behind them and they began to find their feet in midfield but a break down the Partry right resulted in a brilliant cross to the Partry back post which was duly despatched to the back of the net. Fair play to Partry they never let their heads drop and after the third goal went in they seemed to relax and produced their best football. John Byrne took the ball on in the Westport box and despite the challenge of two Westport defenders he slipped the ball under the onrushing Westport keeper but an outstreched Westport leg just managed to deflect the ball away on the line. Twice more John Byrne found himself free in the Westport box but was denied by last ditch desperate challenges. The game finished and Partry went away with an appreciation of Westport's ability but also proved they were capable of holding their own in such hallowed company.

Partry Athletic 3-1 Swinford B

Ciaran Horan, Ciaran Henaghan, Tom Joyce

Partry met Swinford in Milebush on a cold Easter Monday evening and came away victorious after a hard fought battle against a game Swinford side. Partry looked a bit on edge at first and took a long time to settle into the rythm of the game and this gave Swinford chances to take the lead and midway through the first half this is exactly what they did when a good shot from a Swinford midfielder from the edge of the box found the top right hand corner of the Partry net. Eventually Partry did find their feet in the game with Ciaran Hennelly getting more and more influential in the centre of midfield and it was a lovely through ball from Ciaran that found Tom Byrne on the right and his pin point cross was met expertly by the head of Ciaran Horan who took his tally to two in two games. The second half saw Partry take complete control as they pushed for the winner and a brilliant run on the right by Ciaran Hennelly saw him go past the Swinford keeper with ease and as he cut back along the end line leaving the Swinford defence floundering he laid it into Ciaran Henaghan's path who finished like a pro. The third goal was a carbon copy of the second with Ciaran Hennelly again taking the Swinford defence apart on the right and his cut back found Tom Joyce who placed it low to the Keepers left. Partry even had the luxury of missing a penalty such was their command in the second half. A job well done.

Partry Athletic 0-0 Ballina Town B

29/3/08

Partry started off the new season with a home match against newly promoted Ballina. The match was played on a cold, windy and wet saturday evening and Partry started brightly attacking and controlling midfield. For the first few minutes it looked like they might dominate the whole game but Ballina took hold of the game as Partry seemed to be having trouble coping with the conditions. Chances for a goal were few and far between in the first half as the Partry defence and keeper dealt well with all Ballina could throw at them. The second half was a different prospect though as Neill Donnelly's half time team talk seemed to work and Partry gained a foothold in the game. The first clear cut chance came to Mark Gibbons in the Partry attack as a through ball found Mark behind the Ballina defence but his first touch let him down and the chance was gone. Partry were completely in control now and a fine ball from Ciaran Hennelly found Tom Byrne on the right and his cross was met by Mark Gibbons diving in but his header just skimmed the outside of the post. Again and again Partry were pushing forward and a cross from the right from Gary Sullivan was met by the head of Mark Gibbons but the header flashed over the bar. Then John Byrne was found in the box by another ball from the right but his shot with the inside of his foot again unfortunately flashed wide. Partry's last clear cut chance came from a scramble in the box and Ronan Bourke was just unable to get a clear shot on goal. At the end of the game Partry were unfortunate to only come out of the game with a draw but their performance gives great encouragement for the season ahead.

Partry Athletic 1-2 Inver Utd

Ruraigh Gibbons

6/4/08

Partry suffered an unexpected reverse on Sunday in terrible conditions that made it hard for Partry to impose their brand of passing football on the game. For the first 20 minutes it looked like Partry would be the winners but then a breakaway by Inver resulted in a cross that was hooked into the net from about 20 yards by the Inver forward. Partry pressed again and got their just rewards when a brilliant Ruraigh Gibbons free kick from about 20 yards screamed into the top of the net. As the second half began again Partry pressed but couldn't make the breakthrough and it looked as if Inver might snatch an unlikely draw but with just about 3 minutes to go a Sean og Bourke came out to meet a hopeful Inver ball but in the terrible conditions he unfortunately lost his footing and Inver snatched a lucky winner. On the day the conditions meant that Partry couldn't play their fast free flowing football and Inver's more direct style seemed to be more suited.

Achill Rovers 3-3 Partry Athletic

20/4/08

Tom Byrne, Donal Bourke, John Byrne

Partry took the lead after 20 minutes with a clever chip from Tom Byrne and were in control of the game until the 35th minute when Achill headed in from a well delivered free kick. A complete lapse of concentration saw Partry concede two further goals before half time from set pieces.

Partry upped the tempo on the restart and in the 55th minute Donal Bourke headed in from Jamie Walls inswinging corner. Partry were now completely on top and created numerous chances. With three minutes remaining Brian Donnelly directed a pin-point free kick into the area which John Byrne headed into the Achill net to earn a well deserved draw.

Partry showed great spirit in the second half but will feel that this was a game they should have won.

Moy Villa 0-4 Partry Athletic

26/4/08

John Byrne 2, Tom Byrne, Mark Gibbons

Perfect conditions for football on saturday evening, bright and sunny with no wind, more suitable to our game than the weather of the past few weeks. Villa are a different team this year, some very influential players have left the club.

Partry were straight into them from the off, and from our second attack, John Byrne was slipped through for a one on one, and we were 1 up inside 3 minutes. Plenty of attacking from Partry producing more chances, including a couple more one on ones - Tom Byrne clipped the crossbar after lifting over the outrushing keeper, the best of them.

Midway through the half, Villa came back into it, and it looked like we might be made pay for not taking our chances. They had a good spell of pressure, a few corners and a couple of long range efforts off target. They then had one great chance, where they got around the back on the left, and the low cross ended up just being poked outside the post. Couple of minutes later John Byrne raced through and took his goal well from the edge of the area. 2-0 partry, with about 5 mins to half-time. Now it was all Partry again.

Villa came out fired up for second half, but after about 5 mins, we were back on top, and it stayed that way until the end. 15 mins or so in, Tom Byrne got the third there after some good build-up play, he received it in the area, and slotted past the keeper.

We had plenty of chances, and could have scored about 8 on the day. With about 10 mins to go, the ball was played back to Mark Gibbons at the edge of the area, and he hit a low shot, the keeper got a hand to it, but couldn't keep it out. A good win against a tough opponent and surely the springboard to really kick start the season.

Cross Celtic 0-4 Partry Athletic

Partry had a good workout against Cross Celtic in Glencorrib and came away with a 4-0 victory. This was a welcome warm up for next weeks cup game in Moy Villa.

Tonra Cup Round One
Moy Villa 1-0 Partry Athletic

11/5/08

Partry were left to rue their bad luck in front of goal after a game in which they dominated the second half but couldn't find the back of the net. Partry started well knocking the ball around and in the middle of the first half found the net after a good move was finished by John Byrne but the referee ruled it out for off side. The game then became a midfield battle with neither team getting any real grip on the game. With the half beginning to look like it would end in a stalemate Moy Villa were awarded a free kick 35 yards from the Partry goal. The ball was floated in and as Sean og Bourke in the Partry goal came out to punch a Moy Villa head met the ball and it hit the back of the net.

Partry came out for the second half with renewed vigour and completely dominated the game but couldn't find the elusive equaliser. A fine run by Ciaran Hennelly on the left found Mark Gibbons but his effort just went wide. Mark was again unlucky as a lovely cross from the left by John Byrne flashed just over the bar from Mark's head. Mark then became provider sliding a lovely ball through for Tom Byrne's run but the Keeper got down well to save Tom's effort with his feet. Partry pushed forward again and again with Mark Gibbons, Tom Joyce and Ciaran Hennelly totally controlling midfield but it was to be one of those days and Partry finished as losers.

Welcome Inn Hotel First Division
Partry Athletic 4-2 Iorras Aontaithe B

Ruarigh Gibbons (P), Tom Byrne, Ciaran Hennelly, Michael Lally

18/5/08

Partry scored a memorable victory on sunday inflicting a heavy defeat on the would be runaway league leaders and the most pleasing aspect of the victory was that it was well deserved. Partry started brightly and were two up within the first 20 minutes.

The first came from a Ruarigh Gibbons penalty after a hand ball in the box. Ruarigh did well to maintain his composure when he was made retake it, after missing the first attempt, because of the keeper moving off his line. The second came after good work by John Byrne led to a shot which looked like it might just stop short of the goal line but Tom Byrne was on hand to see it over the line.

Partry were on top and their centre midfield of Tom Joyce and Mark Gibbons were in full control in the middle of the park. The second half started with, as expected, Iorras coming out with all guns blazing. They forced a corner within the first four minutes and the centre half had a free header from the resultant corner which halved the deficit. Many teams would have wilted against a team like Iorras but Partry showed their fighting spirit and ability and had the best chances of the match to add to their tally with Ciaran Hennelly and John Byrne going close. Iorras continued pushing to get the equaliser but John rob Kennedy and Paul McAlpine at the heart of the Partry defence were standing firm and taking no prisoners. Sean og Bourke's handling was superb as he caught some brilliant ball under pressure and Ciaran Hennelly and Jaime wall were torturing the Iorras full backs.

The turning point came as Tom Joyce robbed the Iorras right full back and he petulantly kicked out and the referee showed a straight red. Partry pushed forward and a cross by Jaime Wall was spilled by the keeper under pressure from John Byrne and Tom Byrne pulled the ball back for Ciaran Hennelly to finish to the net. Partry put the icing on the cake as a long ball from midfield was met by substitute Michael Lally who pushed it past the Iorras defender with his head and then in the next movement using his strength to hold off the defender expertly finished to the net with a volley off the outside of his right boot. Iorras had a late consolation when a frrekick was brilliantly finished to the net from 25 yards in injury time.

Chadwicks Cup Round One
Ballyglass 1-0 Partry Athletic

24/5/08

A much changed Partry side came out of this match not believing that they didn't score such were the chances they had especially in the second half. In the first half Partry were struggling to get a hold on the game and conceded what was to be the winning goal in the 30th minute. The managers words at half time obviously had the desired results and Partry laid seige to the Ballyglass goal but just couldn't find the back of the net.

Welcome Inn Hotel First Division
Killala 2-2 Partry Athletic

Ciaran Hennelly, Mark Gibbons

31/5/08 6.30pm

Partry went to Killala full of confidence but found themselves one down on Killala's first attack from the tip off. Killala were awarded a free on the edge of the box and duly despatched it to the net. The game ebbed and flowed but the next big chance again fell to Killala when they were awarded a penalty for handball which cleary was a bad decision. Sean og Bourke saved the penalty brilliantly and Partry were still in the game. About 10 minutes later Ciaran Hennelly equalised when Partry had a couple of shots which were blocked and Ciaran pounced to drill the ball home. Killala were awarded another soft penalty for a last ditch tackle when the ball should have been cleared and it was finished to the net. It looked like Partry would be going home empty handed but Mark Gibbons from a free wide on the left which flew into the corner.

Partry Athletic 1-0 Ballyglass

Ciaran Hennelly

8/6/08 2.30pm

An entertaining game on a bright Sunday afternoon saw Partry emerge as 1-0 winners thanks to a fine strike from Ciaran Hennelly. The game started off with both teams having chances but unable to convert. Tom Byrne found himself twice one on one with the Ballyglass keeper but was denied twice. Ballyglass themselves had a few half chances but the Partry rearguard and Sean og Bourke in goal were in fine form. The best chance of the first half though fell to Ballyglass. A long ball cleared the Partry defence and Sean og and the Ballyglass forward both raced to reach the ball first. The Ballyglass forward managed to get his toe to the ball and poked it round Sean og. As he drew his foot back to put it into an empty net from around the penalty spot John rob Kennedy appeared from nowhere and with a brilliant tackle took the ball away cleanly and cleared his lines. The second half started in the same vien with both teams going for the win but with 20 minutes of the second half gone Partry made the breakthrough. The ball was pushed through to John Byrne and as he ran towards goal we all expected him to shoot but John had other ideas. He held his run slightly and as the keeper came out he slipped the ball right to the onrushing Ciaran Hennelly who hit a crisp shot to the left back across the keeper and the ball went in off the left hand post. Ballyglass pushed hard for the equaliser but Partry held firm and came away with a very valuble 3 points.

Ballina Town B 1-1 Partry Athletic

22/6/08 12:30pm

Partry again came away from a game cursing their luck in front of goal. The first real chance of the game fell to Partry when they were awarded a penalty in the first half for a foul on John Byrne. Ciaran Hennelly had his penalty saved and the rebound from John Byrne was also saved. It was nip and tuck for the rest of the first half as both teams looked for the breakthrough. The breakthrough did come though 10 minutes into the second half when a corner was punched to the edge of the box and the Ballina player waiting there finished to the roof of Partry's net.Partry equalised with about 15 minutes to go when Mark Gibbons finished to the net with a low shot from a cross. Partry had the best chances towards the end but just couldn't put the game away.

Charlestown Ath 0-2 Partry Athletic

Tom Joyce, Kevin Murphy

26/6/08 7:30pm

Partry went to Charlestown to face a team full of confidence after a big victory in their and came away with an excellent win. Tom Joyce opened the scoring in the first half when he was put through on the keeper and he was coolness personified as he finished superbly. Partry made it two before half time when Kevin Murphy scored his first for the club with a lovely finish from the edge of the box. Partry Never took their foot off the gas and kept looking for the third but had to be content with just the two.

Inver Utd 2-0 Partry Athletic

28/6/08 6:30 pm

Partry suffered another away day heartache in Belmullet. Despite plenty of possesion we were unable to convert the chances and with just seven minutes to go Inver broke away twice to steal the points.

Kiltimagh/Knock Utd 1-2 Partry Athletic

John Kennedy, Tom Byrne

6/7/08 2:30 pm

Partry travelled to Kiltimagh looking to bounce back after the dissapointment of Inver last week and they did it in the best possible way with a win over K+K Utd. Partry looked like they were always in control of the game and two goals first after a shot from Kevin Murphy came back off the post and the full back John Kennedy apperaed from nowhere to slot the ball home. The second came from a Kevin Murphy cross that Tom Byrne did well to meet with his head and bury. Even though K+K got a consolation Partry looked in control and gave our promotion prospects a real boost.

Partry Athletic 2-1 Kiltimagh/Knock Utd

Kevin Murphy (2)

10/7/08 7:30 pm

K+K came to Partry looking for revenge after the previous weekends defeat and again came away on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Partry's first was scored by Kevin Murphy who hit a sweet volley from a corner that gave the keeper no chance. The second came from a shot from Kevin Murphy which was deflected in off a K+K defender. K+K got a consolation from a free kick which was floated into the Partry box and one of the K+K attackers managed to get his head to it. A great result by Partry which puts us up into the promotion places and puts our destiny in our own hands.

Partry Athletic 4-4 Achill Rovers

John Byrne, Kevin Murphy, Tom Byrne, Michael Lally

20/7/08 2:30pm

Partry went into this game full of hope after Saturdays results meant that a win would have put Partry on top of the division but they were brought down to earth with a bump inside 4 minutes when they found themselves 2-0 down. The first came in the second minute when an expert volley flashed into the top corner of the net. The second a minute and a half later came direct from a corner when a strong wind managed to push the ball into the net. Partry came back fighting though and managed to pull one back before the break when John Byrne chased what seemed like a lost ball won it and then placed it expertly past the keeper. The second half was more of the same with attack upon attack from Partry and it paid off when Kevin Murphy hit a bouncing volley which fooled the keeper and brought Partry level. Achill retook the lead from the penalty spot with 20 minutes of the second half gone. Partry levelled again when Tom Byrne coming in from the back post finished a cross to the net. The Partry lead goal came from a mistake by the Achill keeper whose attempted kick out was sliced straight to Michael Lally who had the presence of mind to take control quickly anf finish well. Partry were heartbroken when a corner in the 3rd minute of injury time was bundeled into the net by a number of Achill bodies.

Partry Athletic 4-2 Moy Villa

John Byrne (2), Tom Byrne, Kieran Hennessy

27/7/08

What a result!!! Partry came out of this game with not just a win but also top of the division. Partry came out all guns blazing and opened the scoring in the 20th minute when John byrne was sent through 1 on 1 with the Villa keeper and he finished superbly with his right foot. Before half time John Byrne grabbed his second when again put through 1 on 1 with the Villa keeper which he again finished brilliantly with his left foot this time. Partry nearly made it three just before the break when a Ciaran Hennelly cross was met by Tom Byrnes head at the back post but the Villa keeper twisted in mid air to keep it out brilliantly. Partry were never under any major pressure and Sean og Bourke in goal only had one real moment which he dealt with well. The second half began the same with Partry forcing all the pressure and the third came when a cross from the left was finished well to the net by Tom Byrne. Number 4 came when an unbelievable cross from Brian Donnelly on the right was met superbly by the head of substitute Kieran Hennessy and whistled into the net. Partry were denied more goals by a combination of hitting the post twice and some offside decisions. Moy villa got two consolation goals when Partry seemed to relax and Villa through caution to the wind but the game was well and truly won by then.

Iorras Aontaithe B 1-2 Partry Athletic

John Byrne, Tom Byrne

16/8/08 6:30 pm

Partry went to Erris minus some regulars and came back with 3 points from an area where Partry have always struggled to get a result. Partry were the stronger side in the first half but try as they might they just couldn't make the breakthrough. The second half was barely 5 minutes old when Partry fell behind to an oppotunist goal. From the kick off Partry struggled to re-impose themselves on the match but just when things were looking bad John Byrne popped up to fire home the equaliser and breathe new life into the Partry challenge. The second came courtesy of a Tom Byrne corner which was destined for the net but a slight deflection from an Iorras defender helped it on its way.

Partry Athletic 4-2 Castlebar Celtic C

John Byrne, Tom Byrne, Peter Gibbons, Ronan Bourke

24/8/08 1:00pm

Partry hosted Celtic C in a friendly today and came away with a comfortable 4-2 win. Partry dominated from the start but couldn't make the breakthrough and were rocked on their heels when Celtic took the lead. A cross from the right caused havoc in the Partry defence and was bundled over the line. Partry hit back when Ciaran Hennelly put John Byrne through one on one with the keeper and he slipped the ball past the keepers left hand. The second came when a cross from the left was met by the head of Tom Byrne coming in late at the back post. There was a raft of substitutions at half time but Partry extended their lead when Peter Gibbons grabbed his first goal for Partry. Celtic grabbed a second after some panic defending in the Partry backline but Partry confirmed their superiority when a cross was met by the head of Ronnie Bourke to make it 4-2.

Partry Athletic 0-0 Killala

31/8/08 2:30 pm

Partry came away with a point against a rugged and determined Killala team but it could have been more. Partry were never able to get into their stride throughout the game and the Killala style off play, to disrupt and get in your face while lumping long balls, was effective in so far as we could never find our rythm. Mark Gibbons went close in the first hard with a rocket drive which just blasted over but that was the only real chance of note in the first half. The second half descended into a midfield battle where Partry couldn't impose our style of play. Killala went close near the end when putting a shot over that looked easier to score but right at the death a cross by Michael Lally was met by the head of Ciaran Hennelly but just flashed by the post.

Ballyglass 4-3 Partry Athletic

John Byrne, Michael Lally, Kevin Murphy

6/9/08 2:30 pm

So close but results went our way and our fate is still in our hands. It all started so well when with just 2 minutes gone John Byrne was put clear in the box and he finished expertly. Partry sat back on the lead though and Ballyglass took advantage. Ballyglass equalised in the 23rd minute and then they took control and by the 35th minute we were 3-1 down. A brilliant run by Kevin Murphy saw his shot bounce to Michael Lally and even though he had his back to goal he had the presence of mind to back heel the ball into the net. Now Partry had the bit between their teeth and their pressure paid off when a cross into the box was handled by a Ballyglass defender and Kevin Murphy fired home the spot kick to make it 3-3. The half time whistle came too early though as Partry were in full control. The second half began in the worst possible way for Partry as a long ball from the Ballyglass backline bounced awkwardly over the Partry defence and keeper and the onrushing Ballyglass forward nipped behind to finish to the net. The rest of the second half was wave upon wave of Partry attacks but the Ballyglass defence stood firm and their luck also held out as Partry were denied two perfectly legitimate penaltys.

Partry Athletic 1-2 Charlestown Ath

Mark Gibbons

28/9/08 12:00pm

Partry went into this game knowing only a point was needed for promotion but a win and Iorras dropping points would give them the title. As it transpired Iorras did drop points but Partry couldn't capatilise and went down to a dissapointing 2-1 defeat to a tenacious Charlestown team looking for points to avoid the drop. Partry started well and looked the better footballing team but they were shocked with ten minutes gone when a Charlestown corner wasn't cleared fully and as it came back into the box the unmarked Charlestown midfielder didn't even have to jump to finish to the net with his head. Partry worked hard to pull one back and near the end of the half were unlucky to see a Kevin Murphy free kick just skim the wrong side of the post. Partry were well on top as the half time whistle blew and it only seemed a matter of time till they got the equaliser. The second half continued in the same way until Partry were shocked when an unchallenged Charlestown midfielder unleashed a thunderbolt from twenty five yards out that gave Seanog Bourke in the Partry goal no chance. This spurred Partry on more their possession paid off when a bal was dropped into the area and wasn't propally cleared and Mark Gibbons fired a neat shot into the corner. Despite having the lions share of the possession Partry weren't able to get that elusive equaliser and when the final whistle went the players trudged off facing the prospect of a dreaded promotion play off. Their sadness turned to joy shortly afterwards though when news came through that results had gone their way and the promotion had been secured.

Kilmore 2-1 Partry Athletic

Niel Donnelly

A very different Partry side lined out against Kilmore after a heavy weekend of weddings and partying and even though we were greatly understrength we were very unlucky to lose after Neil Donnelly opened his account for Partry.

Connacht Cup Round Three

Partry Athletic 2-0 Galway Bohs

Ruarigh Gibbons, Tom Byrne

30/11/08 2:00 pm

Partry came into this game as underdogs against one of the illustreous Galway teams but proved themselves more than a match for their big city counterparts. The game started well for Partry with our forwards finding space behind the Bohs defence and the midfield battling well and showing no little skill which knocked back the Galway men a bit. Their was no clear cut chances until a beutiful Niall Philbin ball from mid way in the half landed infront of two Partry forwards who had expertly beaten the Galway offside trap and Ruarigh Gibbons was the first to seize on the ball and finish neatly to the net. This visibly rocked Bohs and Partry finished the half the stronger. When they came out for the second half though Bohs had a renewed sense of purpose and they pushed hard for the equaliser but the resolute Partry defence coped with all they had to offer and then midway through the half Partry got their second. A sublime ball from Mark Gibbons found Tom Byrne coming in from the right wing and he finished to the net despite the attentions of the onrushing Bohs keeper. Bohs came back at Partry looking for a foothold in the game but Partry soaked it all up and nearly grabbed the third with chances for Tom Byrne, Ruarigh Gibbons, John Byrne and Kieran Hennessy. All in all a fine performance from a team playing it's first game in six weeks against a team in the middle of it's domestic season and now for round four.
