Report

Undefeated in 5 games Penrith Rangers Reserves travelled the short distance to Langwathby for this Third Division encounter at the Toll Bar.

In terrible conditions caused by gale forced winds Langwathby started much the brighter of the two teams but failed to trouble Swindle in the Rangers goal, after 20 minutes Rangers slowly found their way into the game and began creating some chances of their own, this paid dividends when Martin Hodgson was brought down in the box and the ever reliable Andy French stepped up to smash the ball past the keeper to give Rangers a lead they just about deserved, the goal seemed to spur Rangers on and they had a period of dominance playing some neat one touch football but in reality created few good goalscoring opportunities.

The second half was a much closer affair with Langwathby just about shading things, in a frantic last quarter of an hour the Rangers defence came under some severe pressure but superbly marshalled by Tom Hodges and Mark Lawson they held out to gain another clean sheet and 3 more points in their quest to finish amongst the leading teams in the division.
