Launceston Cup Final 2011/12

Bude Town 1-5 Pensilva

Bude came out of the blocks much quicker than Pensilva and scored a penalty in the first 2 minutes, Bude continued putting Pensilva under severe pressure and had an opportunity to increase their lead on 20 minutes but due to a brilliant last gasp tackle from Paul Dunbobbin to prevent the striker from having just the keeper to beat, but due to the tackle from Dunbobbin he had to come off shortly after, after causing a painful back injury.

This saw the introduction of Dave Cole which seemed to change the momentum to Pensilva. Cole was only on the pitch for 2 minutes when he headed from a Marc Tuck corner which a defender cleared off the line.

A few minutes later the same combination resulted in Cole heading back to tuck from a corner and when tuck crossed back in to the box there was a handball which gave the referee no option but to award a penalty, which Sam Rogers converted.

On 35 minutes a Tuck corner was met with a thunderous header by Cole which went past the keeper before he even had time to move his hands to take Pensilva in to the interval leading 2-1.

Pensilva increased the tempo in the second half which the North Devon senior side could not cope with and when Ben Collins put in a great cross which skipper Leighton Mitchell headed in to the top corner on 62 minutes it deservedly put Pensilva 3-1 up.

5 minutes later Pensilva scored again when Rogers broke away down the left flank and put in a great low cross for Jonny Filbey to get on the end of.

On 72 minutes a long goal kick from keeper Matt Hamley was flicked on by Rogers for Filbey to fire home to wrap the match up.

Filbey received the Man of the Match trophy from CCFA President Brian Conyon MBE after the match for causing Bude plenty of problems with his pace and trickery up front.
