Born in Bradfod I came to Malton in 1970 with hopes of becoming a professional jockey. I rode 14 winners and competed with some of the greatest jockeys of the day like the legendry Lester Piggott, Willie Carson, and Pat Eddery. My best racing memory was beating all three at the York Ebor Festival in 1977 and my worst was the death of River Bloom whom I was to ride at Royal Ascot.
