Pontypool Town AFC are this year celebrating '25' years of existence since formation in 1988 and shall this season be returning to wearing the famous red/white/black hooped socks as worn by Pontypool RFC.
Last season the 1st Team managed to survive their very first season in the Gwent County League finishing just below mid-table to maintain this improved status.
The club also benefited from an influx of youngsters who blended well with the more experienced players and brought a fresh energy and quality to both squads, helping the Reserves to '2' Cup Finals.
The club is still relatively new in historical terms, as it was only established in 1988. Based at Albion Road Playing Fields, the club has much tradition to boast, such as the only club with 'Pontypool' in their title.
The 90's were seen as the glory days for 'Ponty', lifting four cups and finishing runners-up in the League on three occasions, however, since the Millennium the club has been in a state of transition, making steady progress to finally achieve Gwent County status in 2010/11 and has always kept going with two teams providing football opportunities for the local community.
The club is run professionally, by a dedicated committee and has excellent relationships with local Councillors and businesses.
'The Bell Inn' is the club headquarters and for many years now the hospitality is second to none with one of the best after match spreads in Gwent.
Come and join a well run club during the exciting and challenging times ahead.
