Portlethen Sports Club was founded in 1992 and has proudly had many teams of many varieties, age groups, genders and with many different successes. It can be said though that every team has been successful in developing players from the local area and further a field, with some proud moments in the history.
With cup honours and league championships in many age groups, the club built up a great reputation and had a new Under 9s team coming through every seasons, having teams from Under 9s all the way through to Under 17s and Under 19s.
Some of the players have gone on to play football at some level, with a few of our Under 16s team in season 2006/2007 making a move to Montrose in the Scottish Third Division. That team also made it to the Scottish Cup final in 2004/2005 season, but were unsuccessful in their bid to win the National trophy at Airdrie's ground.
However playing for Portlethen Sports Club has always given every player involved some experiences. Making new friends, becoming part of a team and playing football are the key factors, and the club has always had this in mind.
The club has seen a recent slump with a lack of teams coming through, but now, in 2011, things seem to be brightening up and the future looks a good one once again for Portlethen Sports Club with younger teams beginning to join the club. A new Under 10s and under 16s teams joined the league for 2011/12 season and a new Under 13s girls team has just started.
