The season started well and we were scoring goals and competing better than ever. We had our greatest achievement so far when we collected our first points by beating Birchwood 2-0 away. This helped us to put in good performances against the likes of Manchester City and Bolton but not playing any games for over a month did not enable us to build on this good work. The 1-0 defeat to Birchwood in the return game was a total injustice ? we had played the whole game in their half and around their box only for them to score with their only attack of the game. I was impressed with how the girls took that defeat but another long lay off followed which further disrupted our performances. We have also suffered from players being unavailable ? most notably against Burnley when we had to play with only 7 players. The 7 girls who played that day were magnificent and I was very proud of them all.
I would like to thank all the girls for their continued commitment to the team and for tolerating me during training and matches. They are what makes this team and I hope they enjoy being a part of it as much as I do. I would not be able to manage the team without the invaluable help I receive from Alison and Tina and I thank them both very much for that. I would also like to thank all the parents, grandparents and friends who support the team and help with taking down nets and providing lifts to away games etc. Again we could not exist without your support.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you next season.
