Lee Griffin Team Chris Didenco, Dean Sullivan, Lee Griffin, Graham Dutton, Jorden Bija, Sam Keefe, James Norman, Jon Clarke, Jerome Jerimiha, Chris Morris, Carl Edwards, Subs Mitchell Joseph, Gino Dicataldo. Raggeds first team were trying to make it a Hatrick of semi final wins after the second and third teams won their respective ties against Cwm Press and Morriston Olympic, in a very tight game with not a lot to choose between the teams Chris Morris scored with a left foot shot from about 25yds to give Ragged the lead after 20mins Dockers then scored a very good equiliser when the Ragged defence were caught square and the Dockers forward went through  to slip the ball past the advancing Chris Didenco. Ragged regained the lead after Jon Clarke was brought down just outside the box after making a great break from mid field, J.J took the kick and curlled an unstoppable shot into the net.  The second half Dockers had most of the play but Raggeds Lee Griffin and Capt Graham Dutton were in brilliant form and Dockers never created any telling chances and Ragged should have increased their lead on al least 3 occasions when they were of target when well placed, the three teams are now in the finals the Minor Cup On Friday 4th May ko 7.00pm, Bonymaen Colts and the second team on Saturday 19th May ko 1.00pm against Swansea Dockers, and the first team on the same date at 3..00 pm

Ragged started the game well and were well on top but the problem of not having a recognised striker showed once again when the final ball into the box there was no one attacking the ball, this carried on for most of the game and Coopers went ahead against the run of play when a deflected shot of the back of a Coopers players back left Chris Didenco  flat footed, Ragged doubled their effort and it came as a relief when Carl Edwards drove home for a deserved equiliser,  Sam Keefe scored the winner with 5mins remaining

In a well contested game Ragged had the best of the first half and should have scored more than the one goal scored by Carl Edwards when he run onto a through ball from David Brown and  drove home from 15yds, Sam Keefe had a great chance to increase the lead just before half time but the goalkeeper made a point blank save from 5yds, then Ragged had a good shout for a penalty when an Olympic defender handled on the line but the referee said he was unsited. Olympic came more into the game in second half but didn,t really cause the Ragged defence to many problems untill they equalised when the ball went in of the Olympics forwards shoulder from a long throw in, Chris Didenco then made a great save to keep Olympic taking the lead, with 3mins left Ragged had what they thought was a certain penalty when the Olympic defender stopped a powerful shot with his hands but the referee once again waved play on, Ragged were disapointed with the draw because they had enough chances to have won the game

Saturday 17th March [18 Mar @ 4:40pm]

Open Cup   (Round 3)

Blaenymaes 2 v Ragged School 3

Team C, Didenco, M.Joseph, L. Griffin, J.Bija, D.Sullivan, N.Lloyd, J.Norman, J. Eames, J.Jerimha, C.Edwards, S.Keefe, Sub K. Blackler,

Ragged had two blows when skipper Graham Dutton, and Jon Clarke pulled out through illness and with three other players unavailable it was going to be a hard game as proved right when Blynymaes took a two goal lead in the first half, Jon Eames thought he had reduced the lead when his shot came down of the bar and looked as though it had crossed the line, but in fairness to the referee he could not judge as there were no lines markings.  Ragged were on top in the second half but Blynymaes were always dangerous on the break  Ragged reduced the arrears when J.J vollyed home spectacurally, Blynymaes then hit the post with a great effort before Sam Keefe qualised after being put through by Nicky Lloyd, Ragged then took the lead when Sam Keefe was put through again and  despite a desperate effort by the defender he could not stop the shot crossing the line, though it was a great come back by the Ragged Blynymaes could count themselves unlucky not to have taken the tie into extra time.

Saturday 26th November [27 Nov @ 9:06pm]

Kilvey 7 v Ragged School 4

Team.  C.Didenco, M.Joseph, L.Griffin, G.Dutton, J.Bija, N.Lloyd, J.Clarke, J. Jerimiha, C.Edwards, A.McKiney, A.Powell.   Subs, N.Tortorella, J.Eames, S.Keefe. Kilvey took the lead after a freekick came back of the bar and the Kilvey player was first to the ball to turn in the ball, Direct from the restart J.J saw the keeper of the line and attempted a speculative attempt at goal which the keeper dropped and the ball obviously went over the line but referee Peter Godfrey was unable to allow the goal as he was unsighted and did not see the ball go over the line. Then when a freekick was placed deep into the box Ashley Powell and the Kilvey goalkeeper went for the ball and the goalkeepers fist made contact with the forward who  was knocked out, the ref took no action stating that he thought it was accidental, Kilvey then went further ahead from a very good counter attack, they went three up just before half time, they went further ahead just after the break from a long range effort, Ragged then pulled one back when J.J. finished off a good move,  Kilvey then scored another two goals to go 6-1 ahead before Ragged made a good comeback with goals from J.J.(pen) Ashley Powell, and Jon Clarke, Lee Griffin then went close to making it 6-5 before Kilvey scored no 7 from the penalty spot for a very good and comprehensive win

A good win against a dangarous Murton side  the Ragged  opened the scoring after the goalkeeper made a good save from a Nano Tortorella header  but Jon Clarke following up scored from close in  Murton scored with a rare attack before Ashley Powell restored the lead just before half time, Murton were doing a lot of attacking but the Ragged defence looked comfortable and Ashley Powell increased the lead with a powerfull volley, then J.J scored after being put through by Nano Tortorella, Substitute Ryan Vincent then crossed for Jon Claeke to head in then, scored himself with a powerfull volley from the edge of the box for his first goal for the senior side.  We know meet Mumbles Rangers in the 3rd rd at Fairwood on 3rd December.und (2)

A good win played on a heavy pitch at Fairwood, Ragged done all the early attacking and it came as no surprise when 18 year old Nano Tortorella opened the scoring when he brilliantly chipped the C.R.C keeper,  the second came when J.J. easily beat the offside trap and placed his shot out of the reach of the advancing Keeper, the half time score was 2-0 but it could have been a lot more, the second half carried on as the first and C.R.C. had only one chance which Chris Didienco made a superb save from Jamie Hopkins, further goals by Alex McKiney 2 and one from Ashley Powell sealed a comprehensive win

Ragged progressed to the next round of the Welsh Youth  cup with acomprehensive defeat of the McWhirter league opposition, the result wasnever in doubt after Nano Tortorella gave them an early lead  he thenmade it two after 15mins and then Richard Hammett outrun the Cwmamandefence to make it three after a brilliant through ball by Tom Spooner,it remained 3-0 at half time,  John Jorden scored number four runningon to a through ball and slipping it pass the advancing keeper, NanoTortorella completed his hat-rick with an audacious  chip from 30ydsout.Cwmaman never stopped trying and if it was not for the brillianceof Adam Merriman in the Ragged goal including a spectacular penaltysave they could  have scored a couple of goals but the Ragged were farto strong for them, all the Ragged players were oustanding includingthe three 16year olds who came on as subs

Saturday 8th October. Ragged School 1 v Kilvey 1 [9 Oct @ 4:14pm]

Team C.Didenco, S.Jorden, G.Dutton, Jon, Clarke, J.Bija, S.Keefe, J.Norman, N.Lloyd, A.McKinney,  A.Powell, Nano Tortorella,  Subs, M.Joseph, M. Loye, C.Edwards. A very hard and competative a draw was probably a fair result Kilvey started well and were on top in the early stages but it was Ragged who almost took the lead when Ashley Powell was brought down on the edge of the box after a good run which should have seen the Kilvey centre half dismissed but the referee only deemed it a booking, from the subsequent freekick Jorden Bijas effort was well saved the the keeper, but Ragged did take the lead when a fierce Ashley Powell shot was well saved by the Kilvey keeper but Nano Tortorella skillfully scored from the rebound, Ashley Powell then hit the post with the keeper well beaten and both Alec McKinney Nano Tortorella  went close as Ragged finished the first half strongly, The second half was a different story as Kilvey piled on the pressure looking for the equliser and eventually scored the goal they were looking for when a miss hit shot was chased down by the Kilvey forward  and he scored from an oblique angle when the Ragged defence had thought the ball was going out for a goalkick both sides had half chances to win the game after this but in the end a draw was the right result

Saturday 15th October [17 Oct @ 4:58pm]

Welsh Trophy Round 2

Rhyadar Town 1 v Ragged School 0 A.E.T.

Team C.Didenco,S.Jorden, L.Griffin, G.Dutton,J.Bija, N.Lloyd, J.Norman, J.Clarke, A. McKinney,A.Powell, N.Tortorella, Subs S.Keefe,M.Joseph,C.Edwards.

In a dissapointing game on a bumpy pitch Ragged never really got started in a goaless first half there were probably only a couple of efforts at goal by the both teams, the second half was not much better and Ragged went the closest to scoring when  a Rhyadar player under pressure hit his own post and was lucky to see the rebound go safe then the keeper made a great save from a powerful Ashley Powell drive, Ragged were then lucky when after a goalmouth scramble the ball rebounded off the underside of the bar and Chris Didenco bravely dived on the ball it, it remained at 0-0 at fulltime Rhyadar went in front when from a corner Mitchell Joseph was adjudged to have fouled  a Rhyadar player but the referree was always going to give the home team something, Ragged almost scored with the last action of the game but the keeper clutched a header from under the bar.  Dissapointing result to say the least but the game was marred by a diabolical display by the local referree.

Saturday 22nd October. [23 Oct @ 6:55pm]

C.R.C. 0  Ragged  0   another dissappointing performance not a lot created the nearest they came to scoring was near the end when a Nano Tortorellas header hit the goalkeeper in the face from close range to stop a certain goal , the goalkeeper Chris Didenco and the back four played well, but a big effort by all is needed to get out of this bad spell

SATURDAY 27th AUGUST. RAGGED SCHOOL v GORS F.C. [29 Aug @ 5:27pm]

Team:  Chris Didenco,  Mitchell Joseph,  Scott Jorden, Graham Dutton, Jorden Bija, Carl Edwards  , Nicky Lloyd, Jon Clarke, Scott Jenkins, Lee Maunders , Nano Tortorella,  Subs, Matthew Loye, John Jorden, Alex, Tortarella.

A much changed Ragged Team due to Suspensions and unavailability with five players makeing their debuts for the club  started brightly and took an early lead when a great through ball by Jon Clarke found Lee Maunders who slipped it pass the advancing keeper for the first goal then the Gors goalkeeper made two saves form   Lee Maunders and Nano Tortorella after both had beaten the offside trap,  the under strenghth Gors side came more into the game and Chris Didenco dealt condidently with a scorching shot from lee Surman, it remained 1-0 at half time but Ragged had squandered a lot of chances, the second half was similiar as the first with Ragged on top, and Graham Dutton scored when he made a run across the Gors defence to score at the near post after a cross by Carl Edwards, Ragged were then awarded a penalty when Jon Clarke was brought down by the Gors goal keeper on the edge of the box Nicky Lloyd expertly converted the penalty.  Graham Dutton then cleared of the line when it looked as Gors had scored,  17 year old John Jorden was introduced for his first team debut and he laid on the pass for Carl Edwards to drive hme from 18yds for the final goal,

WEDNESDAY 31st AUGUST. CWM PRESS 1 v RAGGED SCHOOL 0 [6 Sep @ 10:12am]

In a scrappy match played on the bottom pitch at Cwm Level the first half was only notable for a good effort by Carl Edwards for Ragged and a freekick that hit the post by Arron Pegler for the Press, the second half improved slightly  but with very few chances created by either side, one notable save by Chris Didenco, and a couple of half chances for either side,  with the Ragged pressing forward for the winner, they left themselves open at the back and Trigger went through to out pace the defence and lob the advancing keeper to score the winner in the last minute, a dissapointing night but we will have to pick ourselves up to play an unbeaten Penclawdd down Fairwood on saturday

SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER. RAGGED SCHOOL 3 v PENCLAWDD 1 [6 Sep @ 10:20am]

Team C, Didenco, S,Jorden, G.Dutton, L.Griffin, J.Bija, M.Joseph, N.Lloyd, C.Edwards, S.Keeefe, L.Maunders, N, Tortorella, Subs, M. Loye, D. Lockie, D. Richards.

A very entertaining game played in wet and blustery conditions new comer's to the first division Penclawdd showed that they are going to be  a strong competitive team in this division  in a even first half Ragged went in front when a Sam Keefe effort was stopped on the line but Graham Dutton followed up to force the ball over the line, they should have gone further ahead when Lee Maunders was put through by Nano Tortorella but his effort was saved by the advancing goal keeper, Penclawdd were dangerous up front but the Ragged back four well marshaled by the returning Lee Griffin  were looking secure, the second half started with Penclawdd doing a lot of attacking but were not creating any clear cut chances and it came as a surprise when they equalised after a shot looked to have been collected by Chris Didenco but with a combination of the greasy conditions and wind the ball eluded him and was forced home for the equaliser. this goal prompted an all out effort by Penclawdd for the winner but it was Ragged who created a lot of chances before Lee Maunders broke through the defence to slot home a good goal, Ragged should have gone further ahead when Jorden Bija and Lee Maunders had good efforts on goal saved by the Penclawwd keeper who was having a good game, after good inter-passing between Nano Tortorella and Lee Maunders the latter slotted home for the third goal

Wednesday 7th September. Penlan Club 2 v Ragged School 1 [12 Sep @ 2:33pm]

C.Didenco, S.Jorden, L.Griffin, G.Dutton, J,Bija, C, Edwards J.Clarke, J.Norma,M.Joseph, L. Maunders, A.Phillips subs  S.Keefe, M.Loye, D.Lockie.

In a tight game spoiled by the driving rain and wind Ragged were unlucky not to get at least a draw and should with the number of chances created  have won the game ex Ragged player Andrew Lorey scored two first half goals playing with the wind and Ashley Phillips scored with a terrific left foot shot and was very unlucky not to score more going close on many occasions.

Saturday 10th September. Ragged School 3 v Llangyfelack 0 [12 Sep @ 2:38pm]

Team   C. Didenco, S. Jorden, L.Griffin, G.Dutton, J.Bija, N.Lloyd, J.Norman, J.Clarke, C.Edwards, A.Phillips, C.Morris, subs M.Loye D.Richards.

Ragged opened up brightly creating good openings for Chris Morris and Ashley Phillp both  efforts saved by the keeper, Llangyfelach playing with a strong wind behind them came into the game and had the ball in the net but the ref had allready blown for a foul on Graham Dutton, Ragged had squandered a lot of chances but it remained 0-0 at half time, The second half continued as the first with the Ragged doing all the attacking and Chris Morris put them in front when he headed in a cross by Carl Edwards, Asheley Phillips put them Further ahead when he volled home from 12yds, Chris Morris scored the third from close quarters after a flick on by Ashley Phillips.

Wednesday 13th September. Ragged School 2 v Swansea Dockers 2 [19 Sep @ 4:49pm]

Team.  C.Didenco, S.Jorden, G.Dutton, J.Clarke, J.Bija, M.Joseph, C.Edwards, J.Norman, S. Keefe, C.Morris, A.Powell. Subs, M.Loye, N.Tortorella  L.Griffin.

Ragged started the game well putting the Dockers under a lot of pressure and Ashley Powell put them in front with a terrific strike from 35yds leaving the goalkeeper with no chance, they went further in front when   Chris Morris hit a deep cross into the box and as the ball dropped kindly for Mitchell Joseph to smash into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club. Dockers now came more into the game and were putting the Ragged Defence under a lot of pressure but keeper Chris Didenco dealt confidently with everything untill a well worked free kick harshly given against Graham Dutton reduced the arrears just before half time. The second half opened with the Dockers pilling on the pressure but Ragged should have incresed their lead when on two occasions they missed great one on one opportunitys, this continued for most of the half with Dockers doing most of the attacking but Ragged creating the better chances and should have been out of site when with 4mins left the ref awarded Dockers a controversial penalty, which Kyle Morgan slotted home, Right on full time Nano Tortorella outrun the Dockers defence but the Dockers keeper made a great save, a very good game but Ragged will be rueing the many chances wasted

Saturday 24th September. Ragged School 4 v Brunswick 2 [27 Sep @ 3:25pm]

Team:  C. Didenco, M.Joseph, S.Jorden, G.Dutton., J.Bija, N.Lloyd, J.Norman, J. Clarke, S.Keefe, N. Tortorella, A. Powell subs, M.Joseph, D. Lockie, J.Jorden.

Ragged should have gone ahead after 5mins when after good work between Nano Tortorella and Ashley Powell the latter shot narrowly wide, Brunswick looked very  dangerous  and it came as no surprise when they went in front  a deep cross from the right was headed home for a deserved lead , matters got worse for the Ragged when a 30yd free kick went in despite a great effort from Chris Didenco  to give the visitors a 2-0 lead,   Ragged then hit the bar just before half time but it was not a good first half by the home team. The second half saw the Ragged double their efforts and after a few close efforts they reduced the arrears  when Ashley Powell  powered home from 18yds, it was all Ragged now and they equalised when after strong run by Sam Keefe  Jon Clarke latched on to the loose ball to make it 2-2- it was now a very open game and the game changed when after another good run By Sam Keefe the ref pointed to the spot for a penalty, which Nicky Lloyd converted the referee then sent of the Brunswick defender off  for something he said to him. Jon Clarke then made it  4-2 before another Brunswick player was sent off for verbals to the ref.  It was a pity the game ended this way because it was a very good competitive game and Brunswick had played really well
