The team was effectively formed in the Prettygate pub in March 2005- taking on the arthritic players from what was Nayland Eagles F.C(1986-2005) and the young enthusiastic thrusters from Fenn Wright Estate Agents.
Theoretically set-up for the one season only to give the old-timers a final run-out, the team went on to win the league and the Ernie Osborne Cup. For some reason (winning I suspect) some of the players wanted to carry on... Fenn Wright, on the other hand, had other idea’s and bailed out as sponsors.
Cue an entrance by the Huntsmans Tavern, who were happy to support a successful local side that were easily swayed by baskets of chips! The team morphed into its third incarnation in being Huntsmans Tavern F.C....
At the end of 2006/07, with another league title in the bag, Huntsmans couldn't commit to sponsoring us again as the landlady was due to be leaving Huntsmans. Good fortune put us in contact with a local business, Blueforces. When I say 'good fortune' I mean the illustrious talent that is Ross Bond. With 2007/08 Pre-Season not even a memory Ross... err.. exited from the business Blueforces leaving our links with them in disarray. The season continued unaffected though, and again finished with the 3rd league winon the bounce.
Moving onto 2008/09 and another scrabble to find a sponsor just before the deadline fortuitously pointed us in the direction of The Prettygate pub, and the landlady, Helen. And that is were, after games, we currently lurk- hopefully this association might go on longer than the others... which, contrary to popular opinion, has not been of our making.
