History

The start
26 Sep 2007

Born from the ashes of a social session that used to take place several years ago, itself a leftover from a now-defunct social club called GFI Friday.

Long a regular on the London ball scene, Sally had the idea to resurrect the fun session with some old faces. With the help of Mark, who ran the previous sessions, her brilliant advertising skills soon attracted a large range of responses from the local area, meeting a previously untapped demand for social volleyball.

The new club opened it's doors in July 2006 and soon had to close them to new members due to the large numbers turning up, limiting attendance to about 25 from a pool of 50 or more players.

People have turned up with a wide variety of experience, from total novices to national league players. The club has players from several countries, including a strong German contingent!

As of Sep 07 the club has entered a mens and a womens team in the bottom London League divisions to see how that goes, but the social side will continue to be as important as the organised side.
