Report

Starting 6 of Manuel, Eloy, Adam, Liam, Muna and Javier. Mark on the bench, Efe not well enough to play but turned up to support, as did Sally.

The first set was lost narrowly 25-23 due to first match nerves and occasional problems with positioning in the new system. The second set was taken comfortably as the team started to find their pattern, although Javier managed to find time for a gentlemanly discussion with the referee about starting positions.

The third set saw a surprise 26-24 loss, in spite of holding a 19-13 lead, due to a run of several bad points from overconfidence and lapse in concentration. Mark came on for Manuel in the 4th set and the side continued to overpower Richmond as experience told. The result was a comfortable 25-17, and the college youngsters, though game, looked a little tired.

The final set was closed out with ease, with some clever tips finding the opposition unable to respond. Final score 15-6.

Although a young side, Richmond had a good array of defensive and attacking talent (inlcuding a 6'6 middle) and the result was by no means easy. Their lack of their regular setters was well exploited by the plastic boys.

Great serving from Eloy, Manuel and Javier, top setting from Muna and Eloy, big blocks from Adam, clever hits from Liam and Adam and some useful points from Mark. Adam stood the whole team a round after, good incentive for future matches.
