After settling down into the season following an indifferent start and huge gaps in the fixture list, Randwick started to show some fine form following a crushing 5-1 defeat to Thornbury.
A successful county cup run which saw the team reach the quarter finals, helped the league form improve and produce some scintillating football. By the Christmas period Randwick were in a strong position for a promotion push.
Despite a strong start to 2006, towards the end of the season the team fell away from the promotion pack to finish comfortably in mid-table.
2nd Team Recent History
The 2nd team reformed in 1999 and started life off in Division 8. After an indifferent start, the 2nds stormed up the division thanks to an amazing run of 8 consecutive clean sheets after the Christmas period. They finished behind Quedgeley to be promoted at the first attempt.
The following season saw much of the same, and despite Randwicks domination and striker Matt Fanstone's 50 goals still saw Randwick's 2nd team lose the title on goal difference.
Promotion to Division 6 made no difference as an even stronger team than the year before outplayed most of the division. Pipped to the title by arch rivals Quedgeley (who also progressed through the leagues with Randwick) saw the Reserves promoted in 2nd position for a 3rd year.
The following year saw many of the Reserves step up to fill the voids left by the exiting 1st team players and the reserves managed a mid-table finish.
Since then the Reserves have established their position in Div 5, but as with the 1sts are looking to push on in 2005/06 with a stronger squad.
