Range Rovers Under 12's entered their 3rd annual festival of football with two teams made up in the following way.
Range Rovers 1: Danny Hook-Utting, Connor O'Reilly, Danny Rumbol, Max Curtis, Connor Parkes, Aaron Hicks.
Range Rovers 2: Harry MacEntire, Johnny Hulus, Sam Allan, Charlie Feast, Darren Harrison, Daniel Timson, Harry Bates.
Both Teams got out of their groups, with RR 1 qualifying by games won and RR 2 dead-level with the second placed team and having to have a penalty shoot-out that was won competently.
RR 2 were put out in the quarter-final on penalties and with RR 1 progressing right through to the final, scoring in their semi in the last seconds of the game to go through out right. The meeting with the previous years finalists, Teviot Rangers, now known as Theamesmead Town.
The final was played at great pace and both Teams had good chances to win it, Rovers first team Keeper Danny Hook-Utting excelling in both the first and second halves to keep the hosts in it. With the match level the spectre of penatlies looming the frenetic pace of the game increased but neither side gave an inch.
Again it was up to the cool approach of the boys to pull the Team through the penalty shoot out, with great aplomb they dispatched their spot kicks and walked away victors.
Range Rovers Under 12's entered the Sittingbourne Lions Summer Tournament looking to scoop their first piece of Silverware.
The Team included Daniel Organ in his first outing for the Island side looking to make his mark in emphatic style.
There group was made up of three other Teams, Sittingbourne Lions whites, Faversham Town Foxes and Tyler Hill. The group stages finished with rovers on 6 points, after 2 wins and a loss.
The semi-final was against Faversham Town Eagles which was also won 1-0 that set up a semi-final draw against the other Sittingbourne Lions Team, this was a typical Lions v Rovers affair with nothing much on offer and after a short period of extra time a penalty shoot out, won by Rovers 4 3 and into the finals where the boys met an inform Horstead squad. again a cagey affair with chances going both ways, a goal-less affair went ti extra-time and then the dreaded penalty shoot-out!
This was a closer affair with Rovers coming out on top 7 6 in sudden deat
