Woodbridge Athletic brushed the leaders aside with a good display of attacking football. Fenn put Woodbridge in front after five minutes with a rasping drive that smashed the roof of the net. Dennet crossed and Boardley made it two nil to give Woodbridge a deserved lead. Woodbridge were controlling the midfield and could have gone three up when another Dennet cross was almost converted by Fenn. Ransomes nearly got a goal back when C McCarthy sent a rising drive in that was tipped over by Ross. Williams should have scored with the goal at his mercy but saw his header flash wide. Woodbridge went three nil up after a flowing move Dennett once again picked out Fenn who got his second with a great header. Ransomes were given a lifeline when Bevis reduced the arrears and converted a penalty just before half time.
The next goal was going to be an important one after Woodbridge had gone close with two efforts Williams poached a goal to set the game up for a great ending. Unfortunately for Ransomes Woodbridge had other ideas about a comeback and Harvey made no mistake from another Dennett precision cross and put the game beyond Ransomes. Buck for Woodbridge made the score five two with a late strike and Woodbridge could have increased their score further. M McCarthy for Woodbridge marshalled the Ransomes front line with a comprehensive display at the back for Woodbridge.
