Rec turned in one of their most impressive performances of the season to overcome their premier division opposition today at King George V playing field. Rec dominated the entire game and there could be no arguments about the final result.

For the second week running Rec started with a slightly under strength back line with the returning Geoff partnering Joey in the middle of defence with Zico right back and Sami left back, on the whole they did their jobs well and always seemed in control of the situations.
Rec started out the stronger side and seemed to be more than a match for a team who play week in and week out in the best league in Bournemouth. Rec had a determination about them, their passing was slick, they closed everything down and were challenging for every 50/50, something which had been lacking over the last few weeks.

Rec took the lead after about 10 minutes. Scotty was getting a lot of joy winning the flick on's against their tall centre back and it paid off when Scotty rose, flicked the ball on which landed kindly into the path of Rikki who steadied himself to place the ball past the oncoming keeper. It was nothing more than Rec deserved after totally dominating the start of the game, could Rec cause a massive upset??

Totally against the run of play within minutes of falling behind Forresters hit back with an excellent strike which left Rich in goal with no chance. It was their first chance of the game, it was a hell of a strike but you just thought is it going to be one of those days??
For the rest of the half Rec dominated with several chances coming the way of Spuddy, Scotty and Lee but all were denied by a good goalkeeper .

So it was half time and it was 1-1, we were all pleased with the first half, it was really important not to stop and to keep knocking on their door, we knew we could win this game.
The second half started the same as the first with Rec creating several chances, Forresters knew they were in for a tough game and started to up the tempo with several long balls through which, to his credit Rich came for on every occasion and was successful. 20 minutes in and it was still a stalemate. Everyone was starting to think about extra time, considering the quality of the weather and the fact that the pitch was starting to cut up this was something neither side wanted.

Foresters took the lead after some pin ball on the edge of the box, a few of our players getting in a tangle which left their forward with the simple task of scoring to make it 2-1.
Despite going behind you could see all of the Rec players still determined to win the game, again something which has seen us through some tight games in the past, minutes later Rec were back in the game after some excellent work by Scotty down the right who got stuck in, the ball fell to Jimmy who squared the ball for Rikki who scored to make that his second of the game and bring us back on level terms. It would have appeared that extra would have been needed with 10 minutes remaining.

Then Rec put themselves firmly in contention for team of the week and month by taking the lead. Spuddy had the ball on the right, looked up and delivered an expert cross, all it needed was for someone to finish it, and that man was Scotty who rose and his bullet header left the keeper with no chance. Scotty was mobbed by all of Rec players which really showed how much it meant to everyone to beat this side. 4 minutes remaining and it was all hands on deck at the back. Rec were intelligent with their play and ended up gaining a free kick with seconds remaining. Rikki fooled everyone by playing a short pass to Lee who made it to the by line and squared it to Jimmy who was left unmarked to score and make it 4-2. And that is how it finished....Up the Rec!!!!

Well, what a game, we played awesome today and fully deserved to win this game. Foresters could have no arguments with the outcome of the game, well done to everyone today!!!

Man of the match was Joey today who stepped into the centre back role, commanded the back and did a good captains job!!
