In the 1^st round of the League Cup Redcar started the game well  playing some good stuff in patches looking dangerous on numerous occasions with Skillcorn putting in some excellent crosses. The opening goal came in the 22^nd minute when  excellent one touch play by Halliday and Wilkin split the Acklam defence, which was calmly finished by Dowse.  Redcar then started to over play at times although chances were still created the choice of when to shoot or play a team mate  in was more often than not the wrong choice. In the 42 minute Redcar’s Dowse broke down the line  beat 2 defenders and pulled the ball back across the box for Wilkin to poke  the ball home.

 HT: Acklam 0-2 Redcar Town

 Not long after half time a bad clearance by Redcar  fell to an Acklam player who smashed the ball home form distance. This spurred the Town on and they were awarded a penalty in 52 minute for hand ball. Luke Nicholson stepped up to score giving the keeper no chance. Acklam responded sloppy marking by Redcar allowed them to score when a player unmarked headed into the Redcar net. On 70 mins Redcar made it 4-2 when Easton’s wonderful corner was met by Stares who’s  bullet header flew into the top of the net. The 5^th goal came 2 mins later when one touch link up play by Easton, Stares, Wilkin and Halliday found Dowse in the  box, as he went past the defender he was wiped out. Dowse dusted himself down and took the resulting penalty although the keeper got a hand to it, the power ensured the net bulged. :)

Over all pleased with result, disappointed to concede 2^nd goal, still not firing on all cylinders
