Today Redcar were up against Barwick Albion in the county Cup and got off to a great start in 1st minute a long throw by Josh Ellwood was headed home by Brad Halliday. Barwick respond immediately three Redcar players were drawn to the ball, one pass took them out the game and the Barwick striker equalised. This time it was Redcars turn to hit back straight away and in the 5th minute a great pass by Tyler Easton put Ryan Jennings through on goal and he calmly finished. Ryan Maltby put the Town 3-1 up in the 23rd minute when he poked the ball home after a scramble in the goalmouth. Redcar thought they had put the game to bed when 2 minutes later great work by Jennings set up Halliday to finish.
HT Barwick Albion 1-4 Redcar Town.
The Albion started the 2nd half with more purpose and scored twice to bring themselves back into the game. However in the 73rd minute Curtis Round created himself some space and delivered a beautiful cross which was met by Maltby who rose like a salmon to nod into the net. In the 82nd minute Redcar put the game beyond Barwick when Ryan Jennings picked up a loose ball and curled a long range shot into the net. The final goal came in the 89th minute when good link up play by Round and Easton set up Jennings to score his hat trick and Redcar’s seventh goal.
Again pleased with result very disappointed with defending on their 1st goal, slight smile regarding our forward play or is it wind
