Last game of the season saw the Reds at home against Solihull Juniors, this game being played on the first team pitch to give the boys a taste of what could be.
Solihull like Redditch try to get the ball down early and play it around to create their chances both teams playing this way should have produced a cracker and it did giving the watching crowd loads to cheer about.
Redditch had the best of the early exchanges but again failed to convert their chances with Ben, Stephen, Curtis and Ciaran all going close, before Solihull managed to get a foothold into the game leading to some great end to end football, it actually took a wonder strike from Curtis Albright to break the deadlock when he vollied an unstoppable right footed shot past the Solihull Keeper, giving the Reds a 1 - 0 lead at half time.
The second half started the same as the first with Redditch having far more of the play but it was Solihull who scored next a break down the right was crossed into the penalty area the bounce taking the Reds keeper by surprise alowing the Solihull striker to head home, 1 - 1 again time after time Redditch failed to convert some great chances until with 15 minutes left Stephen Mapstone latched onto a through ball and fired the Reds back infront, the lead could have and should have been extended further just two minutes later but with only the keeper to beat Albright fired over the bar, fortunately the Reds defence held firm and the game ended with a Redditch victory.
This win secures the Reds 2nd Division future but leaves Solihull second from bottom and looking as though they will be going down, they are a very good team and we wish them all the best next season and look forward to playing against them again soon.
