Match Report

Olton Ravens A

Sun 31 Oct 2010

Star player: Kieron McKeown

Ben Stokes (1)

Curtis Albright (1)

Joshua Martin (1)

Rhys Whitehouse (3)

What a game the Redditch lads knew a win would take them into 2nd place in the league but what a way to do it.
From the start the Reds went for it wave after wave of attacks that pinned the Ravens in their own end desperately defending, the pressure ending in shots that were blocked or missed the target until 6 minutes in when leading scorer Ben Stokes latched onto a loose ball just inside the box to make it one nil to the Reds.
The match continued in the same vein with good chances going begging, desperate defending and last minute challenges keeping the Reds at bay, then 23 minutes in deep in his own half left back Curtis Allbright took the ball off the Ravens winger and started a run that saw him take on and beat 6 players before passing to Stokes who fed the ball straight back for him to fire the second in for the Reds 2 - 0 this was the score when the first half finished.
The second half started with loads more Redditch pressure this led to a corner kick floated over by Cameron Gibbs being met by the head of Josh Martin 3 - 0 Redditch.
Then the 40th Minute saw the introduction of substitute Rhys Whitehouse who's speed and touch was to much for the Ravens defence, leading to him scoring a hat trick in just 7 minutes with goals in the 49th, 54th and 56th minutes giving Redditch a 6 - 0 lead. Jordan Adams then decided to take matters into his own hands and a great solo run saw him beat 4 defenders before lobbing the ball over the advancing Ravens Keeper to make the final score 7 - 0.This was a great game and all the Redditch lads played a massive part in the final result, making it very difficult to choose a Man of the Match but we all finally decided on Kieron McKeown for his stirling work in the back line together with Josh Martin they snuffed out almost every attack. From goal keeper to centre forward they all gave 110% and fully deserve to be in second place in the league.
