Started football with Audley and Wereton QP from 11 years old. After 9 years Moving to Rists Utd then on to Alsager Town in the Mid Cheshire league. After two successful seasons moving to Nantwich Town where I spent 4 happy years winning promotion to the NWCL first division and winning the North West counties league player of the year.
Ashton Utd under former Busby babe Sammy Maclroy was next before returning to Nantwich then Kidsgrove before commencing 5 fantastic seasons with Newcastle Town. The most memorable losing the semi final of the FA Vase (one step short of Wembley).
Newcastle sold me to Vauxhall in 2000 where we enjoyed 2 years as runners up in both Northern premier division 1 and premier losing out to Burtin Albion for first place.
A final spell with Kidsgrove as first player then coach saw the end of Saturday football as a player, but followed by spells at Newcastle Town then Eccleshall as manager and coach maintained my links with local football.
The challenge of Redgate proved too hard to resist and hope we can do our bit to continue the clubs rise in local football whilst retaining it’s philosophy of playing the game in the proper manner.
