Following a tremendous midweek victory it was essential that Renfrew built upon that result with another 3 points against Milanda as the title run-in hots up.

Milanda were the last team to defeat RT but that result was the launch pad for the Toon’s good run of form which has saw they take over at the top of the table. 

It was a cagey start by both sides however Renfrew soon got into their stride and and created some decent chances before opening the scoring.  Big Neil netted for the second game in succession.  After going through one on one with the keeper, he tucked the ball away at the second attempt.  The big man had to be replaced though early doors and made way for McGirr as Renfrew re-shuffled the ranks.

Despite the best of the chances the Toon failed to capitalise and took a single goal lead in at half time.

Into the second half and substitute McGirr popped up to double the Toons lead.   A lovely through pass put him through on the angle and he calmly finished into the far corner. 

The midfield man almost added his second and RTs third swivelling in the box and curling an effort narrowly wide of the keepers right hand post.  A third goal was in the offing and again McGirr was involved.  His corner was met perfectly by the head of Noodles who’s downward header gave the Milanda keeper no chance.  Renfrew again had to make a forced change as Aitken made way for Melville in defence.

Milanda pulled a goal back from a set-piece before the obligatory goal from Burky.  A great delivery from Knoxy was powerfully headered past the keeper by the Towns no 9 to complete the scoring.  Full time 4-1 Renfrew.

An efficient display by the Town to get the necessary 3 points.  With 4 games left it now looks like a straight fight between them and Invac for the title.  Next up, Renfrew’s game in hand versus Allander where another 3 points are an absolute must.
