A fantastic day for the lads which was made even more special by an outstanding performance against Corby Diamonds in the cup final today.

The boys enjoyed a  pre match meal at a local bistro before heading off for their 3rd final in 4 years.

To say the lads did our club proud would be an under statement as they matched this seasons league champions stride for stride and in a goal-less first half looked the most likely to score.. HT 0-0 

The second half was just as close with both sides having half chances but neither able to create anything clear cut due to the top class defending of both teams.

With 6 minutes left Corby struck the decisive blow when a left foot strike from the edge of the box struck the bar and (just) crossed the line.   

The boys took the game to Corby in pursuit of an equaliser and only a very poor piece of refereeing denied them the chance of taking the game to extra time when he failed to spot a blatant hand ball from a cross from our right wing (an absolutely stonewall penalty) .  The Corby defender virtually punched the ball away and despite the roars of penalty from the crowd it wasn't given and Corby held on to their slender lead.

Rarely is it you can come away from a final having lost but feel like a winner but that is how i felt today.. the effort the boys put in today was  awesome and the performance was one they can all be very very proud of.
