Laws of Association Football Amendments 2010/2011 With a very limited number of changes made this year there will be no Law Amendment sheet issued this season but please find set out below a list of the changes. Law 1 – The Field of Play Goal posts MUST be square, rectangular, round or elliptical. This means goalposts of any other shape are not permitted. Law 5 – The Referee In the section where players must leave the field of play after receiving treatment. The added exception for removal from the field of play is:- • PLAYERS FROM THE SAME TEAM HAVE COLLIDED & NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION It was considered unfair that players of the same team who collided were required to leave the field of play to receive treatment, leaving the team concerned at a numerical disadvantage. Law 14 – The Penalty Kick Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. However, feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run-up is considered an infringement of Law 14 and an act of unsporting behaviour for which the player must be cautioned. In view of an increasing trend in players feinting to take a penalty kick to deceive the goalkeeper, it is necessary to clarify what is permitted and what action in the event of an infringement.
Disciplinary rules for senior sides The match based disciplinary system will be extended to include reserve sides from the commencement of the 2010-11 season. In essence the rules are the same as shown in the first team club news page except that the suspension will relate to matches played by the team for which the offence occurred. First team and reserve team bookings will be aggregated and the fifth, tenth etc booking will determine which sides games will count for suspension purposes.
Reserve Division Two changes Buckingham Town have withdrawn their reserve team from Reserve Division Two for season 2010-11. Harborough Town Kings Lynn and Boston have joined the league together with Burton Park Wanderers, after one season out, following the club's return to Latimer Park. Two new teams in Division One Two new clubs will play in Division One for season 2010-11. Former members Rothwell Town have returned after 16 years playng in the Southern League. They submitted their resignation from the Southern League at the end of the 2009-10 season. Harborough Town have been promoted following their success in winning the Northants Combination Premier Division in 2009-10. The Leicestershire club won their last ten matches of the season to take the title. Harborough's reserve team will play in Reserve Division Two. Changes to Premier Division constitution Following the Management Committee meeting on Monday 10th May 2010 Bourne Town and Holbeach United were 'relegated' from the Premier Division and placed in Division One for season 2010-11. This decision was in accordance with the requirements of the Football Association which apply to all step 5 leagues across the country and require the lowest placed clubs in the Premier Division without a Grade F ground grading to be demoted should there be clubs in Division One with a Grade G ground grading in promotion positions. All Premier Division clubs were fully aware of the need to have a Grade F ground grading by 31st March 2010 and that they could be demoted if thy failed to achieve the required ground grading by that date. The League has now been informed that after reviewing the implications of the clubs being relegated to and promoted from step 5 at the end of the 2009-10 season, the Football Association have decided to place Stotfold in the Spartan South Midlands League for season 2010-11. In accordance with the league rules Stotfold's resignation from the United Counties League means that they are deemed to have taken the place of one of the 'relegated' clubs, hence Holbeach United will now retain their place in the Premier Division for season 2010-11 as they were the highest placed of the two clubs previously identified for relegation.
