Evolution of the Club

Rippingale Rovers JFC was originally formed in 1997, with Pete Stanton our present Chairman, coaching local children on Sunday afternoons. This progressed into playing friendly matches against teams such as Ryhall United.

In the season of 1997-98, Rippingale entered an under 9s team in the Peterborough League and an Under 11s in the Grantham League. Our Under 9s were managed by Martin Blythe (now Manager of the successful Folkingham Falcons U15s), and our Under 11s were managed by Pete Stanton who took them through the age groups to U16s, winning Grantham League Cup in their final year beating League champions Gonerby YFC.

Season 1998-99 saw the U9s move away from Rippingale and split into the village of Folkingham and Pointon forming their own Clubs, Folkingham Falcons and Pointon JFC respectively. That same year more players were looking to join Rippingale and a meeting was held to form a proper Committee. This was formed with Mark Schiavi as Chairman (who served for four years), Pete Stanton Secretary (four years) and Steve Gibson as Treasurer (six years).

Since that day in October 1998 Rippingale have gone from strength to strength, and we now operate six teams in the Peterborough League with age groups between U8s and U14s, and an U16 team in the Grantham League.

We have had some on the field success in both the Grantham and Peterborough Leagues winning league and cup honours at various age groups.

We now have the FA Charter Standard mark which will make us one of the few Clubs in the country to achieve this enviable status. In the last six years we have made giant strides forward, through hard work and a dedicated Committee and now have an established six-a-side tournament which has been running annually for five years.

With success also comes a price, we are quickly outgrowing our facilities, already using Morton FC as a second pitch and training at various facilities in Bourne. Next season we are looking to use other local pitches unless land can be secured in the village.
