Riverway F.C. were formed in 1986 as a Sunday League Club and have also played under previous names as Greyhound Yarlet and The Lord Nelson.

Playing in the Stafford and District Sunday League they have always been successful, progressing right through the leagues before winning the First Division Championship five times between 1995/96 and 2003/04.

The club now runs two Sunday teams Riverway F.C. and Riverway B team. All three teams play at Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club in Stafford.

The Saturday team were formed in August 1999 after the success of the Sunday teams and they won the the Wolverhampton Combination Division 1 in their first season.

In the following two seasons they were runners up in the Premier Division and also won two Cups under the management of Andy Richardson and Malcolm Dobson.

In 2002 they were elected to the WMRL Division 1 and finished 15th after a terrible start. During the 2003 close season, Allan Somerville and Mark Fisher took over and led the Saturday team to their highet ever league position of third place just missing out on Promotion.

Due to the re-organisation of WMRL Division 1, Riverway were forced to move to a ground with better facilities and shared Wyrley Rangers Long Lane Ground.

Again, Riverway just missed out on promotion finishing fouth with three being Promoted.

Fisher and Somerville were replaced at the start of the 2005/2006 season by John Berks and assistant Barry Lowe.

That season Riverway finished 8th in the league and also won the Staffs Challenge cup beating Chasetown Reserves 1-0 in the final
In the 2006/2007 season
Riverway under the management of Chris Rawlinson and Andy Dunlop finished the season with a twelve match unbeaten run to finish fifth in the first division.
Last season Andy Dunlop took over the helm and led a young team to a creditable mid table position after a difficult start to the season. In 2008/2009 Dunlop brought in assistant Derek Preston to help him and they finished a dissappointing 12/16.Last season season after a number of departures during the close season they struggled throughout the season finishing 14 out of 16.
Because of the financial pressure put on the club playing out of their home town Riverway have moved back to Stafford to play at Beaconside sports centre for the coming season.Unfortunately because of ground regulations this has meant Riverway had to drop down a division to west mids division 2.
Jake Robinson has taken the management reigns as he looks to create a young hungry team pushing for promotion in his first season.
