Hottest day of the year today saw the bottom of the table clash between the two Colts, Robin Hood and West Bridgford.
Due to the hot weather it was agreed to play 3x20 mins rather than 2x30mins, in order to give the girls much welcomed drink and a break from the harsh conditions.
In the first 20mins we had more chances and shots at goal than the rest of the season put together, but superb keeping from the opposition No 1, plus plenty of -near misses- saw us go into the break 0-0, Jamie saving well towards the end of the half also.
We switched off in the next 10 minutes and allowed WB to get into the game, they had plenty of possession and took the lead thanks to the failure of our players to track back after they had lost the ball. However we regrouped and again had chance after chance which we somehow continued to failed to convert. How we were still losing 1-0 at this stage remained a mystery but that was to change when Aimiee poked the ball into the WB goal to make the score 1-1. Relief all round.
So going into the last 20 minutes we knew a draw would leave us at the foot of the table so gambled and went for it, we missed a few chances before Emily put the ball away after some great link up play, we hit the post in a fantastic move and were doing really well to control the game. But WB continued to put us under pressure and could have easily gained an equaliser towards the end. it just shows that you have to take your chances in order to win games or it could come back to haunt you like many times before.
Excellent game, excellent performance (best of the season) and the best way possible to sign off after 4 glorious years, a truely fitting end.
