Rossendale Valley JFC

Club History:

Established: January 2003

President: Stephen Haworth

The original Rossendale Valley JFC had 3 independent club members (Under 15`s, U14`s & U13`s) run by three individuals. This meant a gap was being created in the continuality of the Club therefore we thought it would be a good idea to keep all the teams under one “Umbrella” and to start again at Under 9`s level.
As the only qualified coach available at the time Stephen Haworth {SH} took on the job.
Almost two years on the club has:
1 Seven teams representing RVJFC in the Accrington & District League
2 Club Jacket for all members
3 A “New” web site – designed by Stephen Hawort
4 Now 12 qualified Level 1 coaches – CRB checked
Basic first aid certificate

Important
As from May 2006 our youth teams are now amalgamated with Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s FC youth and senior teams. We will be under the banner of Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s FC who have a 1st team in the East Lancashire league and a reserve side in the Accrington Combination league. This will give all the players from both Rossendale and Oswaldtwistle to continue playing competitive football after they are too old for the junior section.

U10s
31 Jan 2007

First played together in september 05. This was there first full playing year together. It was very much a learning curve for most of the boys as most had never played a league game. Things looked good as they started with a 4-4 against Huncoat utd Allstars, but from then on the learning curve began. Playing against teams that were "established" teams the valley side, who were playing half their team that were a year uder the age group, really began to find out what life was like in a football league, defeat after defeat followed, sometimes very heavy defeats, but the lads never ever got down about this and always gave 100% in both training and match days. By the end of the season, a tough campaign had taken it's toll on the boys and they finished bottom of the league, but this was no justification for their sheer effort they had put in.

After a long summer of training and with a few new faces on board, the valley side set about something they could only dream off, WINNING. After a few games it was clear to see that the defence, midfield and attack had vastly improved from last season, however the valley side were still playing one or two players that should be in the age group below, so is a masssive compliment to these players. A couple of 2-0, 1-0 and a few draws later the valley side finally got what they were fighting so hard for, a 2-1 win at Whalley Juniors, at 1-0 down at half time it didnt look good, but sheer effort and endevaour helped get the valley side the result they so richly deserved. With winter drawing in and the cold weather coming it was always inevitable that the valley side would have a "few" games called off, this was because of safety reasons and nothing else as many parents might belive the pithes were ok to play on. Game after game was called off for about 4 weeks and with the high winds that happened in late febuary, this hampered the valley side in training. With the first game in "months" the valley side met Barrowford celtic and the lack of training combined with a boggy pitch showed as they got beat 2-6. Another weeks training lost to the high winds at the training center was followed by a game at home to Huncoat Utd Aces, the valley side battled hard but the conditions and lack of endevour played a massive part in the 0-5 loss. A few more positive performances saw a home game against Clitheroe Wolves Red, a great start to the game showed just how much the valley side have "come on" in recent weeks. Great passing and movement excited the home crowd but this was short lived as the wolves side won the game by seven clear goals. The second half is a testiment to how far the players have progressed in the seemingly long but very short careers.
