The first home game for the U15's was at home to annual League Champions Fulledge Colts at a very wet and muddy Haslingden Sports Centre.
Despite a promising start, Valley soon wilted as Colts mastered the conditions better and a real goal glut from the visitors commenced on 8 minutes. Time and again, wave after wave of attacks overwhelmed Valley and it was a very disappointed side that went in at half time 8-0 down!!
Into the second half, Valley went 4-5-1 and the extra midfielder seemed to stem Colts attacking options. It was a much closer half and credit has to be given to Valley for not wilting as they did in the first half. A couple of half chanced went begging, Brandon Ash making his debut heading wide from a corner and Sam Halstead hitting a decent strike that went straight into the Colts keepers hands.
As the game headed into the final 10 minutes and with Valley committing more men to score, Colts scored another 3 goals on the break to make the final score a very disappointing 11-0 defeat.
Sam Halstead was the Valley MOM for running himself ragged in attempting to salvage something from defeat!
