Report

What a great second half display from the unbeatable Ruston team, the girls have been superb this season and will go down in history for all the right reasons: Playing good football and developing as individuals and as a team. Any team that can achieve of playing 19 games and winning every one will deserve all the accolades and rightly so. But let me state it is not all about winning, there have been times when we have won a game and played poorly and we have gone back into the training camp to eradicate this type of performance. The girls have been brilliant as they just love to learn and improve in a safe and fun environment, and that’s exactly what we give them.

The game itself was very entertaining as we expected Griffins are a good side and will always give any side a good game. They have some very talented players who perform very well. But once again the game belonged to Ruston’s as we attack at every opportunity and just chip away at their defence being patient for the breakthrough. Chelsea sets the ball rolling with a great through ball for Megan L to lob over their keeper to put us 1-0 up. Emily then does the same for KP who again lobs the ball over their keeper with her left foot 2-0. The first half we did look a little nervy at times as we did rush things by clearing the ball first time instead of having a touch and then choosing our options. We spoke about this at half time and how we should calm down and let the ball do the work. The words seemed to be taken in as the second half we played with a lot more direction and what to do in certain positions when we get the ball.

Lauren Magic Bingy was brilliant in the second half and the solo goal you scored was pure Brooking, Messi, Gazza and Edwards rolled into one. I could hear the parents shouting “cross it cross it” but you went it alone cutting in and firing the ball home well done. Emily was struggling a bit so we swapped Em for KP in goal and straight away KP makes an impact with a rasping low shot drive into the net 4-0. The Griffins keeper made some great saves and always got our applause which is always noticed by Ruston’s supporters but not many others which is a shame. We are a very sporting bunch as I remember congratulating a team who beat us last season, we believe give credit when its due and not to feel any animosity as this seems to cloud the mind. As coaches we all have a responsibility and our behavior should always be 1st class even in unruly circumstances and again this is something we are proud of and will continue to set examples to others.

So girls you can now go to Newark with this amazing record of being a brilliant unbeatable footballing side.

Chloe: In goal and outfield in the second half was very clever and played some great football.
Chelsea: The engine never gives up, wins lots of tackles and puts through some great passes.
Emily: Some of the switch passing you did was brilliant and your whole game has improved this season.
Danni: Had a very good game today, an intelligent player with confidence growing.
Megan F: The joker before the game mmmmm very good technique who can play anywhere and that’s worth two players in any team.
Megan L: Your whole game has come on this season, your goals some very good will continue to flow.
KP: You just never know what KP will try next and that’s what makes you exciting to watch. Two footed with a good attitude to boot most of the time.
Lauren: Lately has been playing some great football and tonight’s goal typifies this well done.
Shan: You always know what you get with Shan and tonight we got more by making some good runs into space well done.
Maisie: Quick, strong and always wants to pass he ball, Maisie has been a treat to watch.
Kate: Wow what cant Kate do, this player has some much in the locker we cant wait to see more of your performances,

Tiffany: Full of class with quick feet and a very forward thinking brain, priceless.
Amy: Another who didn’t put a foot wrong tonight and has a big fan club be ready for those autographs.

Big thanks to all the parents, supporters and of course the players. Special thanks go out to Simon, Stuart and Jono, thanks for everything lads you have been great.
