Sacriston community football club is very much community based. Our club badge shows the colliery on which the village was built. Victoria was the name of the seam and that is why it is part of our club crest and also why we chose it for the name of our second team.
Sacriston community was established in 2009 with only one team. Now, we have over 150 kids playing football in ages ranging from 5 year old to under 13's. This year will see our first all girls team.
In the short early years of this promising club, our teams have won leagues, cups and promotions which is a massive achievment for both players and coaches. One of our main achievments as a club however, was being awarded The FA Charter standard award.
This is what we believe to be the first step into a big future for both young players wishing to learn and grow through football and for the club to be an inspiring part of the community.
Another huge achievment for the club was securing a place in the FA Youth Partnership scheme with Sunderland Football Club, making us only the 7th north east team to be taken on board.
The club now works closely with Sunderland AFC to help improve the way the players are developed at grassroots level.
