Sale United Under 8s - 2010-2011 Season
11 Aug 2010

Sale United Under 8s
We have been busy planning for the new season and are really looking forward to coaching the kids after the summer break. We have high hopes for what we can achieve this year.

This newsletter is intended to provide you with some key information, to share our plans and thoughts on the way we propose to organise things and to set out some areas where we hope you can help.
Key Information
 Saturday training will remain as last year, 10:15 - 12:00 at Crossford Bridge
 Midweek training will be on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 at Partington Sports Village, Chapel Lane, Partington, M31 4ES.
First training session is on Saturday September 11th
Training Plans
Planning meetings have already taken place to ensure we provide the most appropriate and enjoyable training for your child next year. The next meeting will take place at 8:00pm on Wednesday 11 August where specific training will be discussed, and you are all invited. If you do wish to attend please inform Steve Stackable so we can arrange a suitable venue.

In view of the limited (in numbers not talent) coaching staff available at the moment it would be great to get together a list of people who would be prepared to get involved on a casual basis (no commitment, no coaching qualifications required, just be prepared to chip in and help if and when required). Hopefully if you are at training anyway you will be happy to help.

A parents coaching day has been set for 10:15 – 12:00 Saturday 4 September at Crossford Bridge where you can take part in a range of drills to enable you to teach these to the players with confidence and competence. We would like as many as possible of you to attend this session with a view to assisting us during the year, but should add that attendance on this date will not be taken as a year long commitment on your part. The social committee also request for company for a beer after or later that evening.
Communication
Rather than sending individual text messages we plan to use the website much more and will keep this up to date including details of forthcoming tournaments (who is playing and when). This moves the onus onto parents to check the website and also to advise us of dates where your child is not available. One of the benefits here will be transparency about who is playing and when.

Please check the club website (www.clubwebsite.co.uk/saleunitedjfc/) regularly for updates. We would also like to add player profiles including photographs to this website, and ask that any parents who object to this to contact Nick Websdell.
Other ways to get involved
We will need to call on continued support from parents this year to help make the Under 8s a success and there are a number of area’s where you could help:
 A Social Secretary to organise the Christmas party + end of season presentation + maybe some other events / nights out during the year
 Updating the Website
 Assist in setting up equipment (including goals) at each session
 Casual coaches (you will need to complete forms for CRB checking)

It would be great if a few people could share each of these roles. Please contact Nick or Rob if you can help. Hopefully a larger number of us can take part here.

The thoughts and ideas detailed in this newsletter have come out of recent meetings with parents fully involved. We would really welcome any feedback, positive or constructively negative that you may have.
Who to contact
 Nick Websdell or Rob Briggs should be contacted for any questions regarding off-field activities including offers of help
 Paul O'Neill and Steve Stackable will head the on-field activities and welcome your questions
Registration
If you have not submitted your registration forms already then please do so as soon as you can to enable us to determine group numbers for the season.

As you may be aware there are plans to introduce a new kit in September and further details will be provided when these are known. Your child can continue to play in their existing Sale United kit throughout the season.

For those children not re-joining Sale United for the new season, we would like to thank you for your contribution and involvement. We look forward to seeing the rest of you in September for another fun-packed season.
