| Wythenshawe Town FC '10 tIGERS' | 2 |
| Sale United Tigers | 3 |
On Saturday Sale United Made the short trip to Baguley to play Wythenshawe Town. On a bright sunny 'Indian Summers' day , Sale United made a very bright start forcing a number of corners in the first five minutes. After the previous weeks hiccup all the team were eager to make ammends and created numerous chances in the first period, unfortunately they could'nt get the goal their performance so much merited.
The second period started as the first had finished and it was'nt long before Sale United took the lead , Jacob firing in from about ten yards out. Wythenshawe did have some breaks of their own but the defence of Cameron, Finley and Tom D restricting them to long range shots that were either wide or easy for Josh in the goal to handle. Mid way through the period ,after a maizey run from Daniel he was brought down by a Wythenshawe defender mid way in the Wythenshawe half . From the resulting free kick Jacob launched a fierce strike that took a slight deflection on its way to nestling in the top corner of the net. The joy was shortlived because on Wythenshawes next venture forward a richochet in the box resulted in a Sale United Defender putting the ball past his own keeeper.
The third period had only just started when Sale United commited the worst case of football suicide, yes for the second time in the game they scored an own goal. The score was 2-2 and all to play for. The dissapointment of the two own goals did not seem to bother Sale and driven on by Jack and Daniel in midfield and the non stop running of Will and Tom L, it was only a matter of time before the winner would come and when it did come it was worth the wait. Brandon picked the ball up in his own half and jinked past three defenders before calmly rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the empty net.
This win was well deserved and the final score probably flattered Wythenshawe Town a little but it was a game played in the correct manner with both teams trying to play on the floor and a special mention must go to the referee who was exceptional throughout.
