CLUB HISTORY
Distinguished Opponents (28/07/07)

The teams that Salvesen boys have played against include most Scottish Clubs, notably Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and many of the current Premier League, as well as the now sadly non-existent Third Lanark, Meadowbank and Airdrie.

Salvesen boys have also graced the turf of some of the great English clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Leeds United, Spurs and Aston Villa.

Past Honours (28/07/07)

Salvesen Boys Club has enjoyed numerous honours over the years, including being the last ever team to win the Under 17 Scottish Juvenile Cup and the first Edinburgh side to win the Scottish Under 18 Cup.

We also have the honour of being the only Edinburgh side to win the Scottish Amateur Cup at Under 16 level, beating the then famous Drumchapel BC 5 – 0 in the final.

Salvesen was also the first winner of the Scottish Association of Boys Clubs Cup at Under 15 level.

In the past, the Scottish Juvenile Cup has been won on five successive years by the same team, moving through 12's, 13's, 14's, 15's, and 16's.

1982 was a terrific year for the then Salvesen Under 16s, who won the Scottish Cup, the League Championship and the East of Scotland Trophy.

The Club also has enjoyed numerous European successes in Germany, France, Italy, Ireland and England, as well as in International Competition in The USA, South America and Hong Kong.

The Salvesen Name (28/07/07)

Ever wondered where the Salvesen name came from?

The name of the Club was taken from a housing scheme, which was funded by the Christian Salvesen Group, and our first Honorary President, Norman Salvesen, gave permission for the club to use his family crest. The crest is still used today, although the link to the Salvesen family no longer exists.

Hall of Fame (28/07/07)

Salvesen is very proud of the number of boys who have gone on from the Club to the professional game.

Jackie McNamarra, Gary O'Connor and Scott Wilson and young Hearts starlet, Calum Elliot, are among the former Salvesen Boys currently playing the beautiful game.

Garry O'Connor renewed his relationship with the club last season when he took time out during a trip home from Moscow to meet the then Under 15s, having taken on the role of their tracksuits sponsor.

Up and coming former Salvesen Boys include Heart's Lee Wallace and Dunfermline's Greg Ross

Here we name but a few other former professionals that spent time at Salvesen Boys Club:

Roy Barry
Dave Clunie
George Flemming
Gary McKay
Dave Bowman
Jim Brown
Jim Cruikshanks
Pat Stanton
Willie Murray
Peter Marinello
Paul Kane
Chris Robertson
Scott Nisbet
Paul Heggarty
Arthur Albiston

There are obviously many more, but it would not be practical to list over 200 players!
