Born in Small Heath in June 1940, I attended Somerville Rd Junior School, Marlbrough Rd Secondary Modern,Garrets Green Tech College & Mathew Bolton Tech College. I played in many sports & sprinted for Small Heath & Sparkhill Harriers in the late 50's, being selected to run for the county in the AAA . However Football is and always has been my first love. I was what is known as a utility player, playing in every position, I played for the school, I started my first team at the age of 15 from members of Birmingham City supporters club, Small Heath branch, calling ourselves Small Heath Rovers and playing in the South Birmingham Sunday League, we changed our name to Greenheath Star then later to Parkhill Rovers, I later played for Edgbaston Utd, Shenley Green Mavericks & Wake Green Amatuers. I was lucky enough to play against the late Duncan Edwards in a representaive match for South Birmingham v Dudley (before he joined Man Utd). I played several charity games for Birmingham Pantomine XI whilst working in the theatre, I also played for Albany Hotel in the Birmingham Wednesday League & W T Avery in the Birmingham Works League also Deritend Engineering in the same League. I managed Rubery Grasshopper Newman U11,U13 & U15, I also Managed the Second City Boys U15 representative side. I started with Santiago in 2004 as the then U7's Manager, I remain with that team and I am proud to say that 6 of the original team remain, whilst 2 former members will be rejoining for 2008/09 season, I am a level one FA Coach and a member of BCCA.
