Cooper and Easey call time.........
Chris Cooper and Stephen Easey are to depart Sawston Rovers after both joining this season. Cooper who signed from Camden in the summer has been sidelined by a knee injury since the opening day of the season that will keep him out of outfield action for the rest of the season, and has turned his hand to goalkeeping on a Sunday for Fulbourn Sports in ther meantime. He joins Fulbourn Sports and Social Club to solve their goalkeeping crisis. Easey who signed last month from Haddenham Rovers returns to Haddenham after failing to make an impact at Rovers, he has been limited to 3 substitute appearances due to the amount of strikers Rovers have on the books and also the good form of the first team of late and has returned to Haddenham to seek more regular action. Both players leave with the best wishes from everyone at Sawston Rovers and we wish them every success at their new clubs. First XI manager Barry Rule (above) said "Coops was signed in the summer to solve a defensive problem we had with Jim Drane still out but we lost him after the opening weekend, he has now turned his hand to goalkeeping and we don`t have a spot for him in that position due to having 4 keepers registered already so the natural thing for him to do was to help out Mick Hooks at Fulbourn. Stephen came hear at the wrong time really, we have been on a good run and scoring goals and it was always going to be difficult for him to force himself in especially after Shaun Robinson recovered so quickly from his busted collarbone which pushed him even further down the pecking order. So hes chosen to return to Haddenham for some regular starts, I can`t criticise anybody for that cos thats what we are all here for and I hope they both are successful"
