The tab hosted Calvary in the first round of the League Cup on a windy day.
It took both teams 15 minutes to come to terms with the conditions, but the tab took control of the game, with some excellent passing, keeping the ball low at all costs, the tab had several chances to take the lead, but failed to take the chances, Woody give a neadless free kick away just outside the Tabs 18 yard box, the delivery from Calvary was pin point, a great header was saved by Bolton, but Calvary were quick to respond, and scored the first goal of the game, to lead 0-1. This saw the Tab step up a gear, and scored 5 mins later, with an excellent corner from Poulton, which seen Scotty unchallenged in the box, to score with a diving header, to make it 1-1. The tab continued to dominate, but the score remained 1-1 at the break.
The second half saw the tab keep possession of the ball and were rarely troubled by Calvary, but it took 30 mins in the second half, for the tab to take the lead through Austin Laidler, the 3rd goal was scored by Poulton with a tap in after Laidlers header was saved. Calvary's heads went down and the fourth goal was scorded by Helliwell from closed range, looked like a miss kick, but he managed to lob the keeper from 2 yards out to make it 4-1, which remained until full time. The score line flattered the Tab, as Calvary put up a good performance until the last 15 mins.
