Report

When we played Lumley at home a few weeks ago, the scoreline of 1-2 flattered us greatly as they could've ran away in the first half.  So we all knew this was going to be a tough game.

Once the game got underway, I thought that we played really well and were creating as many chances as them and looked comfortable at the back.  Alys was looking more comfortable and her body positioning for shots made it look like she'd been listening in training - which is always pleaseing.

However, one small mistake 20 minutes in and the lightning Lumley attack punished us with a well taken goal.  Half time 1-0.

For the second half the girls came out and we started to chase the game a bit, which left gaps for the quick counter attack. Lumley had fresh legs and were making us pay with 2 goals coming from breaks down the wing with the striker/opposite winger running onto the low cross.

I cannot really remember Lumley's fourth, but I do remember thinking that we didn't deserve to be 4 down when it felt like we were holding our own.  As always, credit must go to the girls that kept plugging away and we were rewarded with a stunning free-kick from Beth H, bending over the wall and away from the keeper - a just reward for a good game and gave her the girl of the game award... just pipping a few of the others!

All in all I thought that this was a good game and should have been as close as the last match, though Lumley did deserve the win for clinical finishing and being just that bit more hungry in the tackles.
