Report

shildon drew their last pre season game 2-2 with Northallerton. Northallerton took the lead early in the game when Phil Brumwell misjudged the bounce of the ball leaving the Northallerton striker through on goal, the finish was well executed. The first half was dominated by Shildon with Sam Garvie causing endless problems and created a couple of good chances which shildon failed to take. with ten minutes remaining Byrne missed a free header about 6 yards out which seemed to sum up the first half performance from shildon. The second started with shildon lifting the tempo and getting their passing together and Chris Bell becoming very positive in possesion. The equaliser soon arrived with a good cross by bell being finished off by Garvie. Shildon were now in complete control agianst a very competitive Northallerton side who seem to have improved from last season. Another shildon mistake lead to Northallerton taking the lead, a careless back pass from Everitt left Northallerton with another goal scoring opportunity which was again accepted. with 10 mins remaining a great move by shildon was finished by Byrne to level the scores. further chances were squandered by shildon before the referee blew for full time. Shildon played some attractive football particullaly in the second half but must stop conceding soft goals.
