Shield's Scroggins was yellow carded for foul play followed shortly afterwards by Morris for kicking the ball away
Shildon at last pushed forward with a through ball from Mark Tinkler which Warren Bryne eagerly despatched past Andrew Clark in the Shields goal. to bring Shildon back into the game at 2 - 1 after 35 mins.
The Railwaymen were again shunted back to their own goal line where Gowland lost the ball to allow another cross and another chance.
Sam Garvie closed a very disappointing half with a shot well wide.
