Report

Shildon AFC were guests of high flying Tow Law Town in the skilltrainingltd Northern League on Saturday 28th, November 2009, and came away with a well deserved 1 - 1 draw.
After a slow start, with neither team settling down, the first real chance of the game fell to Shildon's new signing from Consett, No. 10 Steven Johnson, when on 15 mins. he ran through on the left beating several defenders before his shot went into the side netting.
On 18 mins. Shildon's Jon Agbatar was booked for a late challenge.
On 25 mins. the home side took the lead, when a low free kick from 40 yards out was slightly deflected by centre forward Lewis Teasdale, past Keith Finch in Shildon's goal.
Before half time The Railwaymen had chances to level the score, but failed to capitalise each time.
On 29 mins. a cross from the left to Danny Richmond, who from only 3 yards headed weakly into the keeper's hands.
Two mins. later Andy Johnson crossed to Chris Bell who was on the goal-line, but somehow couldn't force the ball over.
Half Time Tow Law 1 Shildon 0.
The second half started with a bang, when within a minutes Jon Agbatar brought down Tow Law's Lewis Thompson inside the box for a blatant penalty. Amazingly, Agbatar was not booked. Andrew Thompson stepped up for the kick, and blasted the ball onto and over the bar.
On 47 mins. Lee Chapman was through, but missed a glorous chance to equalise.
A minute later, a bad foul on Daniel Moore resulted in a full scale fracious, resulting in 2 red cards, Lewis Teasdale for Tow Law and Phil Brumwell for Shildon.
With both teams down to 10 men, the game opened up considerably, with both teams creating many chances.
On 80 mins. Shildon got their just rewards for their efforts with John Butler and Sam Garvie cleverly inter-passing. From Garvie's cross from the right, substitute Karl Everitt rammed the ball home to make it 1 - 1.
In the last 20 mins. chances fell to both sides, with Danny Craggs, Mark Eccles and Andrew Thompson for Tow Law, and Andy Johnson, John Hutton and Sam Garvie for Shildon all failing to score the winning goal.
For any neutrals in the crowd, this was the game to watch, with end to end action right upto the final whistle.
With both teams tiring, either one could have won this close encounter, therefore a draw was perhaps a fair result.
