shoe took first blood with a wonderful goal by mark boland from just inside there half old Xaverians soon equalized with the shoe defender david chisnall getting robbed of the ball the forward then shot at goal with a save from mark wellens on to the crossbar the ball bounced kind to the old Xaverians player to head the ball into the back of the net soon after the kickoff tempers began to fray with one of there players shoved craig owen which was enough to to get him sent off not to mention the head but when the referee turned his back all though they were down to 10 men the still battled hard shoe scored the second of the game from a corner when the defence cleared the ball only for john grady to head the ball towards goal and john mclaughlan turn the ball in to the top corner with his left foot leave the keeper and the defenders helpless but the dogged old Xaverians came back into the game from a corner with slack marking from the shoe team old Xaverians equalized again the game was then evened out when craig owen received his second yellow card in the game for descent then was shown the red one more red card was to follow for the old Xaverians forward for calling the ref a prick
