FORMAT OF THE COACHING ACADEMY.
14 Sep 2007

PURPOSE: This proposal has been developed by Head Coach Tom Scott, and is based on over 20 years of working with goalkeepers of all ages.
The purpose is to enhance and develop the quality provision of goalkeeper coaching at Shot Stoppers, who are members of the Scottish Youth F.A.

AIM: To develop a programme of coaching/training, which will facilitate the skills and techniques required to enable the individual keeper every opportunity to advance through our structure. Each coach will have autonomy when planning the content of sessions.

COMMUNICATION:On a weekly basis the structure will allow coaches to develop a co-ordinated planning process and therefore enable both formative and detailed
feedback aimed at parents and goalkeepers.

GENERAL: Summer coaching clinics/courses are designed to meet individual standards in a fun,but safe setting. Topics range from basis handling to the more complex drills.Every student has a chance to learn exercises and practices that should be part of their weekly club training schedule.

Goalkeepers are a breed apart and require specialist help.We combine quality coaching with innovative methods to improve keepers at every possible level. We will look at possible club visits,in addition to our own coaching clinics, group sessions, and SYFA coaching.

WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP FOR YOU?

If you really want a better standard of shot stopper why not pay us a visit and see how we operate. We guarantee you will not be disappointed and you or a club official do not have to stay for a full session. We are sure you will be impressed with the tempo and quality of work on display from the weekly goalkeepers of all age levels.

UPDATED NEWS..UPDATED NEWS...

SCOTTISH YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION DEVELOPMENT COACHING STRUCTURE 2007-'08.

We have been asked by the national association to organise a programme for their goalkeepers at under-14,15 and 16 level. This also included a hugely successful coaching weekend at the Inverclyde Centre,Largs,in June 2007,and the first-ever In-Service Training Day for Development Coaches held on first class facilities at Balgray Playing Fields, near Anniesland Cross,Glasgow,on Sunday,August 12.

Among the clubs who took the opportunity to send along their goalkeepers for specialist work were Arsenal BC,Baljaffray,Everton Boys Club,Park Villa,Pollok United and Johnstone Burgh Boys' Club.

Three members of our Saturday morning set-up also attended, namely Jonathan Fyfe,Sean McLaughlan and Ross Johnstone. This enabled watching SYFA officials, boys club managers and invited goalkeepers to see the level of work we do on a weekly basis. The session lasted one and a half hours, and the format included warm-ups with and without a football, basic handling and more advanced drills, footwork, agility, working within a full-size goal and special
advanced drills never before seen by the assembled youth
coaches.

Tom Scott would like to thank everyone who attended, and a special thanks must go to Mr Mitch Agnew,of the Scottish Youth Football Association, for his organisation which ensured the first session of the day went without a hitch.

TESTIMONIALS/PARENTS FEEDBACK

As you already know I have always been full of praise for the work that you do for all the boys, and for the encouragement and discipline that you instill in them at such a young and very impress
ionable age.I don't think that all the coaching and ballwork you gave David helped him,I know it helped him! With this in mind, and if David keeps up the same standard and attitude,I have no doubt it will stand him in good stead for the long road ahead.

Mr David Marshall Senior.

I have found it completely professional and from a parents point of view it has helped with Daniel's overall development and helped him regain his enthusiasm for the game.I wish I had found shot stoppers 4 years ago.

Mr Danny McLeay.

I watched both of Fraser's coaching sessions and I feel you and your staff should be commended for the time you spend with each of the individuals on the course.

Mr Drew Cantley.

Yet again another brilliant coaching course.Every year Paul attends,he learns so much and he applies it to his goalkeeping regime. All I can say is thanks for giving Paul the confidence to constantly strive to be the best goalkeeper he can be.

Sheila and Andrew Kearney.

They have a fantastic set-up and the work done on potential talent is really different class.Nothing like this existed when I was coming through the ranks. The methods used by Shot Stoppers opened my eyes.Any boy or girl going to their set-up can count themselves very lucky indeed.

Former Partick Thistle No1 and Scotland Team of the Future star Kenny Arthur.

We are writing to once again thank you for all the fantastic work you have done and continue to do with our son Sean Brown. He has come on brilliantly since attending the courses and subsequently attending weekly training on Saturday mornings.Since his initial visit he has become more disciplined, focused and dedicated in learning the art of goalkeeping and with your continued support we hope this will continue into the future.

Mr and Mrs Brown.

I was very impressed. It is very professional and the thought behind the coaching methods were first class.

Mr Steven Clarkson, who is himself involved in coaching a variety of age group teams.

Coaching methods and ideas
were like a breath of fresh air. It's a shame these methods are not mandatory at club level.Personalities of coaches meant that boys had a laugh and enjoyed themselves whilst working hard.

Mrs Fiona Murray(mum of ex-Scotland youth cap,Dundee and Queens Park keeper Scott Murray).

Jonathan has enjoyed every session he has been involved in.His comments to me confirm the worth of such a course being available for goalkeepers.
We still consider this is the best goalkeeping training available.Team managers at all levels should learn and develop your coaching methods for their goalkeepers.

Mr Steven Fyfe(parent of Jonathan Fyfe)
